You start out as a young person (male or female) in SimValley where you meet your Uncle Hayseed on his farm. This game is simply a RPG with a few things borrowed from the huge Sims franchise that is still popular and is soon to get a fully fledged sequal The Sims 2. THe ideas this game borrows is the buying items (although in a slightly different way then of The Sims), relationships and the look, that's about it that is similar to the actual Sims game so if you are looking for a addictive handheld version of The Sims then this probably won't do for you. Without all the baggage from The Sims, this game is pretty good. Although this isn't the longest game you'll have ever played and it may not be the most fun you can have in a video game but this game is good enough for most people. This guide will guide you through the story of the game and tell you exactly what to do to complete each and everyone of the goals set for you, right up until the grand ending of the game. And one last thing before I get started with this guide, I must warn you that this guide will contain spoliers, I am going to make no attempt to coverup any story spoliers so read ahead carefully if you like to find out stuff as you play the game. =============================================================================== [3] Updates =============================================================================== v1.2 4/6/04 Added my brand new ASCII art to the guide and have removed several unfinished sections of the guide so not to waste room. I may submit this version to GameFAQs this time, but then again, maybe not. v1.1 13/12/03 Gonna soon alter the look of the guide and extend the guidey bits in the guide so that they are a lot easier to follow rather then vague comments, but for now all I have added is the finished walkthrough and also altered the contents so it is accurate now. v1.0 12/12/03 Written the whole walkthrough to this short game. I might add a items list later but it may not happen, but then again. maybe it will... =============================================================================== [4] Contact =============================================================================== To email me use the addresses below: darkgta4@yahoo.com I will probably answer most questions unless they are obviously answered in this guide somewhere. No junk e-mail please. =============================================================================== [5] Basics =============================================================================== Controls ======== D-Pad - Move character A - Accept B - Hold to run Start - Pocket/Popularity/Goals Menu Select - Pause Menu R - Rotate Item L - Rotate Item =============================================================================== [6] The Game and Stuff =============================================================================== ----------------------- |i) Welcome to SimValley| ----------------------- First choose a name for yourself, something fun or amusing if you like. Then choose your appearance throughout the game (although clothing colours can be changed in game) and then take some personality points away from the ones you are given in the catergories until it allows you to move on. You can also select a star sign which seems rather pointless as it affects the game in no way whatsoever. The agree that this is the Sim you want and you're all set for this game. The first thing you'll see is a note welcoming you to SimValley for the summer. With a little advert for SimCity Uncle Hayseed has invited you to stay with him and to go see him as soon as you arrive. You arrive on the back of a pickup and get dropped off outside the farm. Now the game begins... 1) Meet Uncle Hayseed To recieve your first task go up to Uncle Hayseed and talk to him. To talk to people you will be given a set of options to select, but this conversation is pretty much liner to teach you the basics of playing this game. - Befriend your Uncle (Relationship 30) To get the relationship score up to 30 simply talk to him for a while and only say nice things to him. - Give Uncle Family Photo Album As soon as he starts talking about giving him a gift, and allows you to select a whole bunch of options, select 'I've got something for you!' and then select the Family Album to give to to your Uncle. 2) Welcome to SimValley To get this set of goals simply carry on talking to your Uncle. - Find Something to Eat You've now got to eat something, done by going into the house, going up to the cooker (or fridge although it takes more fridge visits to get you to full eating capacity. - Take a Nap You will also have to get some sleep either on the couch or the bed until the bar is fully green. - Take a Shower Then finally either take a shower or use the sink a lot, the shower is a lot quicker though. When you are doing something like showering and the bar has gone to full green, yet you are still showering, press B to exit it. 3) Inherit the Barn After completing the last goal go off and talk to Uncle Hayseed who is probably outside the front still. - Decorate the Barn with the Wood Chicken Since all the following goals are almosty exactly the same as this one, all you have to do is go out into the backyard, pickup the stuff there, go into the barn and deposit it around the room. There is a bathroom through the door at the bottom in case you want to put stuff there. - Bring Uncle's Broken TV to the Barn - Bring Uncle's Broken Fridge to the Barn - Move the Old Couch into the Barn - Move the Bed into the Barn 4) Farmhand Blues Talk to crazy old Uncle Hayseed after the last task to get this new set of goals: - Tune up the Tractor This one will require you to get some Mechanical Skill from tuning up the tractor out front (you can tune it up twice to get two Mechanical Skill points) - Fix the Old Refrigerator This goal and the next are almost the same and just require you to use those skills you earned and to fix the broken things in your barn. - Fix the Old Television 5) Earn some Simoleons Next talk to Uncle Hayseed again to finally get some money! Well, you'll have to work a but to get it, but this is the easiest money earning job of the whole game (when promoted to Level 5). - Mow the Lawn To mow the lawn you just go to the big blue sign out front, say yes and then drive around a bit. The hours it is open are from 5am to 7pm. - Get a promotion To get the promotion you will need to get a score of $50 (as well as 1 Mechanical Skill but you should already have that) To check what qualifications you need to get promoted in any of the eight jobs in this game, press SELECT and then go down to the JOBS section. In there it will tell you how many points you need and what skills you need to get promoted to the next level. --------------- |ii) The Escape!| --------------- 1) Escape of the Chickens After completion of the mini-game talk to Uncle Hayseed and he will now finally let you out of the farm and into the town! (Although at the moment only a small part of it) (Also food now will cost you money to steal from your Uncle. $20 for a snack and $40 for a meal.) - Bring 8 chickens to your Uncle This new taks will require you to gather up his eight chickens that have gotten loose around the area. To make life easier for you, here are the locations of the eight chickens: 1) In the bathroom of your Barn 2) On the stairs of your Barn 3) Right outside the gate of the farm, slightly hidden by trees on the other side of the road 4) Just a little northwest of the corner of the street that the farm is on, hidden by trees 5) To the right of the Burning Spoke Biker Bar 6) In the carpark next to the General Store 7) In the yard just southwest of the General Store, entrance to it is right next to the row of bikes 8) In the bathroom of the Burning Spoke To get the chickens back to Uncle Hayseed simply talk to him and select the 'I've got something for you' option again. - Find Detective Dan The second part of this task is to talk to Det. Dan D. Mann who is usually quite easy to find, he wears a brown coat and hat. Talk to him and you will find out about the Veloci-Rooster. While you are out-and-about talk to eveyone that has a ! above their head to meet them. You can get their relationships as high as you want. 2) Shopping Time When all the stuff you want to do is done head back to the farm and talk to Uncle Hayseed. - Sell the Old Couch to the Bartender Grab the sofa and go off to the Burining Spoke where you will be wanting to sell it to the bartender. He will buy it and set it up in the room. - Buy a Shower Next head off to the general store and buy a new Shower for $130. - Place Shower in the Barn Take your new shower and place it in the lower room of the barn. And to make about $80 (if you are fast at delivering) you can talk to people, ask them if you can help and they will give you an item to give to someone else. If you get it to them quite quickly they will give you an $80 tip. 3) Serve the Public Talk to Uncle Hayseed and he'll send you off to find Det. Dan D. Mann again. Find him and he will give you some new goals to complete. If you can't find him by walking around use a phone to call him, calls from public phones cost $1 but the phone at Uncle Hayseeds and yours are free. - Become Pals with Nora (Relationship 10) Find Nora and talk to her for a little, shouldn't be too difficult to get her to the level required. - Attend General Store Auction - 5pm to 7pm You don't have to win the auction, just attend it. 4) Clear the Roadblock Go see your Uncle who will tell you to go see Dusty Hogg who is usually at the Burning Spoke to get your new goals. - Calm Dusty Hogg (Relationship 25) The first is dealt with easily, get your Relationship with him up to 25. - Return Dusty Hogg's missing Helmet Then go off to the small yard area to the south of the accessible areas and grab the helmet. Give it to him the usual way. - Fix Dusty Hogg's Bike Then use your mechanical skills to fix up his bike that is located to the right of the Burning Spoke. 5) Get some Wheels! Talk to Dusty Hogg again to get these new goals: - Tend Bar at the Burning Spoke He'll set you up with a new job which will allow you to get a bit more money each day. The job runs from 8pm to 11pm so you have to be quick to get there. The jobs not too difficult to beat at this low level but gets harder as the level gets higher. - Paint Dusty Hogg's Bike Just go up to his bike and select the repaint option. - Collect 5 Aluminium Cans If you haven't already collected 5 cans then you can find them lying around on the floor, just pick them up with the A button. - Bring Cans to VirtuChem Go to the VirtuChem Labs which is only open from 8pm to 8am, it is located near the hospital on your map. At Virtuchem Labs you can sell five different objects that you find lying around the town. These are: Aluminium Cans, Old Glass Jars, Mechanical Cogs, Nuclear Fuel Rods and 3-Eared Mice all at varying amounts. 6) Moving Out Once you've completed the last task talk to Dusty Hogg and he will give you a nice free Scooter which will allow you to drive around the town. It will be located right outside your barn. Then talk to Uncle Hayseed to get this next lot of missions: - Get help from Giuseppi Mezzoalto You'll find him either in the Burning Spoke (also in the area behind Dusty's bike) or down by the docks if it is late. - Make 1 Friend (Relationship 50) The easiest person to get to be a friend with is Uncle Hayseed. - Give $500 for Rent to your Uncle Getting the $500 should be easy, just use the lawn mower a few times at Lvl 3 as well as going to the bar to get money there. - Earn A Second Job Promotion This promotion probably will have already been done earlier, but if not, you need to get 75 points while in the game. Giuseppi sells cheap items down by the docks in his van, it is only there late at night and all the goods are just as good as in the normal shops. Once you've done all of this Giuseppi will give transport to the entrance of the Clock Tower and will leave all of your stuff in a crate. Take it all out and set it up around the place. There is also an upstairs for you to put your stuff in if you haven't enough room. -------------------- |iii) The Clock Tower| -------------------- After moving into the Clock Tower the game becomes less linear and so most of the following challenges can be done in any order you like (last requires all the previous goals to be completed before it gets unlocked) 1) At the Waterfront - Impress the Fisherman (Relationship 40) Pretty obvious challenge this one, simply find O. Phil McClean and get his relationship to you up the 40 that is required. - Earn Mechanical 2 If you haven't already got two for this yet then I think that you can still use the Tractor to get the second one and if not then you will have to wait until you can fully access the library before completing this part. - Buy a Fishing Pole Buy the fishing pole in Nicki Knacks' Bric-A-Brac for a price - Buy a Good Fishing Book 2) The Raging Chicken Competition To get these goals rolling meet up with Vernon Peeve and he will give you the goals. - Earn Body 2 Simply go up to one of the punchbags in the gym and wait until you get a skill point, then repeat. - Impress Eddie Renalin (Relationship 40) Not much explanation needed really. Eddie usually hangs around the gym. - Pay the Membership Fee of $200 Again a simply challenge for simple people. Earn the money and pay the fee. After completion you will be able to access the upstairs 3) Library Card Talk to Hester Primm to activate these goals: - Destroy all 15 Bookworms When the library is open simply go inside and go over each of the bookworms and kill it. - Get 3 Books from other Sims The books in question belong to: Mad Willy Hurtzya, Claire Clutterbell, Misty Waters, Daddy Bigbucks and Nicki Knack. Just talk to them and they will hand it over. - Return 3 Books to Hester Now just give back the three (or four, or five) books you've collected to Hester and that's this goal complete. - Learn Cooking Go into the library and go up the stairs and go to the right to where the only readable books are. You only need one skill point to complete this. Once done, you will be able to access the library and read up on all skill points possible. 4) The Rise of Club Rubb Recieve this set of goals from Bucki Brock: - Get permission from the Original Owner To complete this one all you need to do is to meet Maximillion Moore the doctor and he'll give you permission. - Befriend the Cop that Closed the Club (Rel 30) The Cop in question is Det. Dan D. Mann, so get his relationship up to 30 if it isn't already. - Pay $1000 in back taxes Raise $1000 and pay it to Det. Dan D. Mann. - Distribute 10 Flyers to other Sims Buy ten flyers from Nicki Knacks' Bric-A-Brac which is in the east of the map, and give them to ten different Sims. Then find Det. Dan D. Mann and he'll reopen the club. 5) Deep Dark Secrets To kick off these missions pay Giuseppi a visit and he'll tell you all about some Steam Tunnels. - Aquire a Crowbar The mysterious crowbar that will be with you for the rest of the game, is located at the farmhouse, just go ask Uncle Hayseed for it. - Find the City Blueprints The blueprints are located in the Clock Tower, a strange new trapdoor will have appeared at the bottom of the stairs to the clock room, simply press A to access it. - Lower the Maintenace Laddes To get to this part, simply go to the front of Country Cafe and go down the manhole cover which has an arrow over it. Then go right and press the button and all the maintenance ladders will be lowered. - Give Blueprints to Giuseppi Once you've done that hottail it back to Giuseppi and give him the blueprints and you will now be able to make use of the underground tunnels to shorten your journey times across the town. 6) Moving Out - Make 4 Friends TO get 4 friends to count, you have to have relationship score of 50 and above with 4 different people. - Earn $3,000 for Rent Get $3,000 for the rent, earn it via any of the jobs opened so far. - Earn 2 promotions (Bait Flinger or Powerlifter) You need to get to Lvl 3 on either of the jobs listed. The Powerlifter one is quite easy as all it requires is for you to tap A then press down at the right moment, and then press up at the right moment (still tapping A all the time) and you should easily get promoted twice! Now go talk to Nicki Knack and give her the money, she will then tell you to find Giuseppi to help deliver your items to your new house! ---------------------- |iv) The Veloci-Rooster| ---------------------- 1) Experience the Paranormal - Pick the Rusty Lock To open the lock you will need 3 Mechanical, and then just press A on the lock to start picking it. - Find a Ghostly Gift You can find a yellow Urn in the sewers, then once you've found it, give it to the Ghost (only appears at midnight in the house!) - Learn 'Crazy Talk' (Logic 4) Gain Logic 4 either from a chess set if you've bought one or from in the library. - Answer the Ghost's Riddles These are the riddles answers: 2, banana, 11, H, glove. And then he will tell you to take the Rocket back to where-ever it was that you came from. A grand finale with all the cast will now happen as you walk to the Rocket and get inside. The Rocket will then take off into the sky and you will see it nearly reach the moon, but then fall back down to earth. Even so, the game is now 100% over and the credits will roll. The only point at which you can access the game you just finished is where you last saved it...
