The walkthrough itself tries not assume you have any specific Skylanders and will mention when you need a certain element or ability to complete a task. To play the game you will need at least two Skylanders to load in with the infra-red portal otherwise it will not let you continue beyond the very start. To fully complete the game you need at least one Skylander of each of the eight elements and one Swappable Skylander of each of the eight movement abilities (the two can of course overlap so you can complete it with just eight specifically chosen Swappers). A Giant Skylander is not necessary to complete any part of Swap Force but they can be used instead of bombs in specific areas. ,--------, ,----------, ,--------, | [010100] |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| Controls |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~| [010100] | '--------' '----------' '--------' o------------------------------------o | ACTION | BUTTON | |------------------|-----------------| | Pause | Start/Select | |------------------|-----------------| | Move | Circle Pad/Dpad | |------------------|-----------------| | Jump | B | |------------------|-----------------| | Primary Attack | Y | |------------------|-----------------| | Secondary Attack | X | |------------------|-----------------| | Sprint | A | |------------------|-----------------| | Use Swap Power | L | |------------------|-----------------| | Use Magic Item | R | |------------------|-----------------| | Switch Skylander | Touch Screen | o------------------------------------o ,--------, ,------------, ,--------, | [010200] |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~| Experience |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| [010200] | '--------' '------------' '--------' When you kill an enemy you gain a small amount of experience in the form of small glowing dots. You also get bonus experience at the end of a level based on how many coins you've collected and whether you're matching the daily elemental bonus (+25% for one element or +50% for both). ,--------, ,----------, ,--------, | [010300] |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| Upgrades |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~| [010300] | '--------' '----------' '--------' Upgrades are automatically given to your Skylander when it levels up. At the end of a level the game will notify you that you've gained access to a new power but you'll also get a notification during play, if you press A when it appears you can go straight to the description. ,--------, ,------, ,--------, | [010400] |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| Hats |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~| [010400] | '--------' '------' '--------' In each platforming level you can find a few hats, for the first time in the 3DS games these do affect your stats. You'll find them inside the presents that are hidden throughout the levels. ,--------, ,-----------------, ,--------, | [010500] |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~| Elemental Gates |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~| [010500] | '--------' '-----------------' '--------' In each exploration level you will find a pair of elemental gates, these are entirely optional and by skipping them you do not hinder progress through the story. To open an elemental gate simply stand near to it with a Skylander of the corresponding element, once inside any Skylander of any element can be used. ,--------, ,------------, ,--------, | [010600] |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~| Swap Zones |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| [010600] | '--------' '------------' '--------' In each exploration level you will also find one or two Swap Zones, these are again entirely optional for progressing through a level. If you have a Skylander with the matching Swap Ability then they can go into the Swap Zone, you can only switch characters in the zone if the character you swap to also has that ability. ,--------, ,------------, ,--------, | [010700] |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~| Challenges |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| [010700] | '--------' '------------' '--------' Each level has five goals, four of which are possible to do on your first time through. When you have completed the level once you can go through again to complete the time challenge. The tasks vary from level to level and include collecting coins, smashing chests, and completing Swap and Elemental areas. You get a different set of tasks in the smaller boss fight levels such as not being hit by a hazard and not eating any food. There are three stars to earn in each level, the first you will gain from the story mission when you complete the level. The second is for the time trial run through on your subsequent trips through the level (you can choose not to do the time trial) and the third is for completing all four of the other challenges. ,--------, ,---------------------------------, ,--------, | [010800] |~-~-~-~-~| Adventure Packs and Magic Items |~-~-~-~-~| [010800] | '--------' '---------------------------------' '--------' Two new Adventure Packs were released with Skylanders: Swap Force. These come with a Skylander, a Location Piece and two Magic Items. The Location Pieces unlock a level and can be used in multiple games. The Location Piece when placed on the Portal of Power will unlock a brand new exploration level. Unlike the consoles this item has no further use in the 3DS game. The Magic Items do not unlock anything but instead temporarily provide your Skylanders with something special. You can only have one Magic Item active at any point and they cost thirty coins to use. The main thing is to remember to actually use them. To load them into the game simply put them on the Portal of Power and use the Portal in Boom Town as if you were swapping out your Skylander. ,-----------------------------------------, | [010801] Tower of Time [010801] | '-----------------------------------------' The Tower of Time unlocks Tower of Time which is found next to the Skylands Museum. It has no further use in the 3DS game. The Battle Hammer follows you around and attacks nearby enemies doing 24 damage each hit, this lasts for about thirty seconds. The Sky Diamond causes defeated enemies to drop coins. Each enemy drops a gem worth 5 coins so you need to kill around four or more enemies to make it profitable (the value doubles in a coin rush). ,----------------------------------------------, | [010802] Sheep Wreck Island [010802] | '----------------------------------------------' Sheep Wreck Island unlocks the Sheep Wreck Island level which is found next to the Skylands Museum. It has no further use in the 3DS game. The Platinum Sheep summons a sheep to help your Skylander in battle, it runs around for about thirty seconds dealing 40 damage on each hit. The Groove Machine puts nearby enemies to sleep, the effect lasts for about twenty seconds before they wake up again. ,-----------------------------------------------, | [010803] Old Adventure Packs [010803] | '-----------------------------------------------' The four Adventure Packs released with Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure no longer unlock levels in Swap Force but do now have a use as Magic Items. Their accompanying Magic Items can still be used as before. Pirate Seas fires cannon balls at nearby enemies for twenty seconds. Works better if the enemies are standing still. The Hidden Treasure when activated will temporarily cause coins to be attracted towards you. It costs thirty coins to use and only lasts about fifteen seconds so not a very useful item. The Ghost Swords make your Skylander's attacks do 50% more damage for twenty seconds. Empire of Ice brings down piercing icicles to attack nearby enemies for twenty seconds. The Sky-Iron Shield will protect your Skylanders from damage for ten seconds. The Anvil Rain will surround your Skylander with three anvils that knock back enemies if touched that lasts fifteen seconds. Darklight Crypt brings down screeching skulls to attack nearby enemies for twenty seconds. The Healing Elixir will continue to heal your Skylander for twenty seconds. The Time Twister will surround your Skylander with three hourglasses, if these hit an enemy that enemy will freeze in place for a few seconds. The hourglasses last about twenty seconds and don't have any effect on large enemies. Dragon's Peak brings down blasts of fire to attack nearby enemies for twenty seconds. The Winged Boots allows your Skylander to run without having to stop every few seconds for twenty seconds - perfect for Time Challenges. Sparx the Dragonfly will hover around your Skylander occasionally shooting nearby enemies for twenty seconds. ,---------------------------------------------, | [010804] Dragonfire Cannon [010804] | '---------------------------------------------' The Dragonfire Cannon (both regular and Golden) fires a burst attack in the direction your Skylander is facing for a few seconds. ,--------------------------------------------, | [010805] Scorpion Striker [010805] | '--------------------------------------------' The Scorpion Striker Catapult rains down attacks from the sky on all enemies nearby for about twenty seconds. ,---------------------------------------, | [010806] Fiery Forge [010806] | '---------------------------------------' The Fiery Forge causes molten rocks to fall on nearby enemies for about twenty seconds. ,--------------------------------------------, | [010807] Arkeyan Crossbow [010807] | '--------------------------------------------' The Arkeyan Crossbow launches several massive bolts from the sky that attack nearby enemies for about twenty seconds. ,--------, ,-------------------------, ,--------, | [010900] |~-~-~-~-~-~-~| Importing and Exporting |~-~-~-~-~-~-~| [010900] | '--------' '-------------------------' '--------' You will be asked to load in two Skylanders once you start playing and the game will not let you continue until you have done so. To load in more than that you need to go to the main hub world after beating the first level and go to the replica portal on the south side of the town. Once you are in the summoning screen switch on your Portal of Power (your old Portals do not work with this game but the new Portal does work with the old games) by pressing down on the surface of it (it'll start glowing blue), place a Skylander on there and point your 3DS/2DS at the Infra Red port marked by the small white arrow. The Skylander will then be loaded into the game. To update a toy you simply repeat the process and load the same character into the game with the Portal. If you have gained experience since the last time you used that toy on the Portal it will be added to the toy. This means that if you've also gained experience on the toy through another version of the game then you don't need to worry as it will only add the gained amount onto the experience that is on there, it doesn't replace it with the 3DS's current total. This means to reset a Skylander's level on the 3DS game you must first load the Skylander into the 3DS game to clear the counter for added experience, reset the Skylander on a console version of the game and then load the freshly reset Skylander into the 3DS game. Your Skylander will once again be level 1 with 0 experience. ,-----------------------------------------------------------------------------, |~-[020000]~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~WALKTHROUGH~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~[020000]-~| '-----------------------------------------------------------------------------' The game begins in Boom Town and lets you summon two Skylanders before moving on to the first level. If you want to get everything from the level your first go through you should summon in a Fire element Skylander and a Swap Force character with the Spin ability. Conveniently enough the Starter Pack provides both with Volcanic Eruptor and Free Ranger. You will be able to load in more Skylanders once you have finished the first level. Before you leave it'll ask you to take a look at the switching mechanic, to choose a Skylander to switch to you first tap on one of the element icons on the bottom screen and then select the Skylander you wish to switch to. If it is a swappable character you will then be taken to a screen where you can switch out the top or bottom halves to make a new combination, tap Play to finish and load in the Skylander. You can also switch Skylander simply by tapping on the picture of the Skylander in the middle of the screen, this takes you to the element page of that Skylander if it's a regular Skylander but if it's a swappable Skylander it takes you to the part swapping screen with the current combination already loaded so you can easily just switch one part. ,--------, ,-----------, ,--------, | [020100] |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| Sky Docks |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| [020100] | '--------' '-----------' '--------' ,-------------------------------------, | [020101] Sky Docks [020101] | '-------------------------------------' * Fight your way to the town * Time Challenge - 5:00 * Collect Coins - 180 * Elemental Gates - Fire * SWAP Force Zones - Spin * Bash Chests - 6 1. Beanie 2. Fancy Ribbon 3. Aviator's Cap 4. Trucker Hat Go up the wooden pier towards a Mabu who'll tell you that the Sky Docks are under attack. Follow the path along past the Mabu and follow a line of coins along to a split, take the left path as the right one is just for recovering from a jump if you miss it. Not far along the left path is the jump press the B button while moving forwards and you should make it over, try to jump at the last possible moment and to continue to push forwards on the circle pad so that you keep moving in the air. If you do fall down you can get back up by following the path back around. The next jump is a bit longer so requires a double jump. That means pressing the jump button again while in the air during a jump, in this instance the game pauses briefly to let you press the second jump but it won't do that for any other jumps in the game so try to get used to it. Blocking the path just ahead is a bit of debris, you'll need to smash through it with your attacks, keep hitting it with your Y attack until it disappears. On the right side of the path just beyond that is the first [Chest 1/6], it's a red and yellow chest that slightly wobbles, to smash it you need to hit it several times with your attacks. Once it's open it'll drop five normal coins and a larger coin that's worth five coins. So ten coins. That happens to also be the magic number for the doubling effect, for a short time any coins you pick up will be worth double their value, you can see this visually by the icon in the top left corner turning gold and having a x2 marker on it, as well as all the coins in the world turning gold instead of silver. This only lasts a short time so make the most of it. Jump over the next gap and follow the curve of the path up and over another gap, to the right of where you land is a path leading off to another bit of debris with [Chest 2/6] behind it. Return to the main path after smashing it and continue upwards to a large open grassy area. A couple of small enemies will suddenly appear and start attacking you, they're robot Chompies so if you've played previous games in the series you should remember that they're the weakest type of enemy you fight and that they don't take more than a single hit to defeat. The problem with them is simply having many of them trying to attack you at once. After defeating the first two Chompies a couple of clockwork Chompy Pods will drop in and start creating more Chompies that you need to attack, ignore the pods themselves as they will self destruct after putting out a set number of Chompies and there's nothing you can do to them before that. Once the pods have exploded the Monster Gate will drop and let you past, you'll encounter these often in the game and require you to defeat all nearby enemies before they'll open. This means that while you can skip a lot of enemies you do have to fight when you come across one of these. Anyway, go through the Monster Gate and you'll meet another Mabu who this time will tell you about the Elemental Gate he's standing next to. This one is Fire so if you have a Fire Skylander loaded into the game switch to it and approach the gate. For swappable Skylanders you only need to have one half as the matching element, the other half can be any element you like. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Fire Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | With a Fire element Skylander active approach the gate and it will open. | | You can now switch to any Skylander you like, it no longer matters if it | | is Fire or not. Jump into the balloon on the other side of the gate to be | | taken to the challenge. This time you have to kill the Chompies that are | | being fired through the air over the platform that you're standing on, | | keep on doing that until the Monster Gate opens and another platform | | rises out of the lava, double jump over to it and on it is a present [Hat | | 1/4 - Beanie] that you need to attack to pick up. Make sure to do that | | before stepping into the teleporter that will take you back outside the | | gate. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Continue along the path past the Fire Gate towards a large red bridge, the bridge will collapse as you cross over it and drop you down to the next part. The game will again instruct you to switch Skylanders, you can just switch to the same Skylander if you don't actually want to change. Go past the Mabu and jump over the gap towards a couple of enemies. These robots will fire a ball of fire out from their guns so make sure to get out of the way of that by jumping over it. Defeat them and jump forwards and left off the left edge towards the platform below with a bounce pad and a present [Hat 2/4 - Fancy Ribbon]. Grab the present and then use the bounce pad to get right back up to where you jumped off. Go right where the two enemies were and up a slope towards another type of robot enemy, this one will run towards you and try to hit you with a sword so try not to sit still for too long and instead jump over him or just move away so that he can't hit you. At the top of the ramp jump over the gap to the left and continue along to the left through some debris and then down off the edge to [Chest 3/6]. Double jump back up and go back to the right and then onwards up the slope. There's another couple of ranged robots at the top, get rid of them and follow the path behind them to where another Mabu will show you the first Swap Force Zone, a Spin Zone. As long as the bottom half of your swappable Skylander is a Spin ability (such as the bottom half of Free Ranger) you will be able to step on the teleporter and go in. You can tell which swap ability the bottom half has by the icon at the bottom of their portrait in the selection screen or by the icon at the bottom right corner of the top screen when they are being used. A Spin Swap Force has a tornado icon. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Spin SWAP Zone | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | In this Spin Zone you'll be using your Spin Power to deflect cannonballs | | as well as hovering over gaps and other dangerous obstacles like the | | propellers just ahead. Be aware that Swap Powers have a limited duration | | so you will want to cross over the danger as quickly as possible. Press L | | to initiate the Power (you can only start using a Power if the power bar | | is completely full) and then move forwards over the propellers, keep | | moving until you reach the platform on the other side. | | | | There's a few enemies up ahead, defeat the first one that runs up towards | | you and then move a little further up to where there's a ship firing | | cannonballs, you can see where they're aiming by the red cross on the | | floor, if you activate your Spin Power just after it fires you should | | reflect the cannonball to hit the ship. Do that twice to destroy it. | | Defeat the other enemies up here before starting the next propeller | | section. | | | | The gap to the next platform is a lot larger this time so you'll need to | | go through the tornadoes which will refill your power bar and let you | | keep spinning for longer. Go left and try to deflect cannonballs into the | | floating chests, it's not difficult but can be a little tricky. You | | basically need to get a cannonball to hit you and to bounce it into a set | | of the rubber wheels, move and it should keep bouncing between you, get | | over nearer a chest and it should then fly off towards it. The tornadoes | | will keep reappearing so you can sit in one spot and keep refilling the | | bar if you need it. If you do smash these chests they do count towards | | the Bash Chests total but there are enough regular chests that it isn't | | 100% necessary. | | | | Once you reach the first platform defeat the two ranged enemies and then | | deflect the cannonballs into the ships firing them at you, go on past | | where the enemies were and jump onto a platform made of small green | | boats, go along it and kill another enemy before jumping over to [Chest | | 4/6]. Go right and defeat another enemy before continuing along the | | propellers. Go forwards through the tornadoes (there is another flying | | chest back down to the right if you want to try to get it with a | | cannonball) to the end of the path (and there's a third flying chest | | right at the end if you can manage to keep a cannonball bouncing that | | far) where you'll need to go and step onto a rectangular ship, the gate | | will close behind you and a ship with three will start firing cannonballs | | at you, wait for all three reticules to target you and the first one to | | fire before using the power so you get all three in one go. Move around | | while waiting for the bar to refill and then repeat to destroy the ship. | | Smash open the present [Hat 3/4 - Aviator's Cap] and step into the | | teleporter. Exiting a Swap Zone also causes ten coins to appear for you. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Go left and follow the path along until you get to a split next to a large billboard with Flynn on it. Take the ramp down to the left and jump over to [Chest 5/6], jump back over and carry on up to a fight with another pair of robotic Chompy Pods. When you've destroyed all the Chompies smash through the boxes at the left side to find [Hat 4/4 - Trucker Hat] hidden behind them. Then go through the door of the building with a large Mabu holding a wrench. Inside you'll have to defeat a few more Chompies and a couple of the sword robots before the cowering Mabu will give you the key to the exit at the far end of the shop. Pick up the key and approach the door, the key should be used automatically and allow you through. The game would now like to teach you how to spring, simply keep moving and hold down the A button (regular Skylanders can hold down the L button instead but that'll active a swapper's powers so you're probably better off only using A to run). Not really necessary here but you might as well, jump onto the ship at the end of the path to be take a short distance away. Once you arrive go left, you're now on the other side of that red bridge that collapsed earlier, carry on up the slope past a few Chompies and over a few gaps that appear until you get to a grassy area with another Chompy Pod. After clearing the Chompies start jumping across the moving platforms behind it over to the other side. At another open grassy area defeat another few more enemies, on the right on a balloon is the final [Chest 6/6] to smash, if you don't quite have all six yet then don't worry as there is actually still one spare that you can get. Go up the moving platform and then rather than going onto the second set go down the ramp towards that spare [Chest 7/6]. With that go back to making your way up the floating fan platforms to the top and fighting the three sets of Chompies that appear. Once they're all gone a Mabu will ask you to blow up a blockage with a bomb. You'll also be told of the special ability that Giant Skylanders have (the larger variety of Skylanders introduced in Skylanders: Giants), they can smash blockages like this without even using a bomb. For everyone else though the bomb is just to the right, pick it up by walking over it and then face the blockage and press Y to throw the bomb and complete the level. After blowing up the blockage you'll be taken to Boom Town, the hub world of the game. At the moment the town is a bit damaged so parts of it are cut off, these will unlock as you go further through the story. For now you can visit the Museum and take a look at your Hat collection as well as your Skylander collection. To the south of the town is a Portal of Power, you need to use that if you want to load in more Skylanders. Unlike the previous two 3DS games you can load in your entire collection and switch between any of them at any time, however you can't load in new Skylanders in the middle of a level so you might want to get started... Once you've got all the Skylanders you want loaded in talk to Hugo who's standing in the middle of town. After that go over to the docks and talk to Flynn to select the next level. You can also choose to replay the first level if you want to go back and find things you've missed or to complete the Time Challenge that unlocked after beating it the first time. ,--------, ,---------------, ,--------, | [020200] |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| Ancient Woods |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| [020200] | '--------' '---------------' '--------' ,----------------------------------------, | [020201] Spooky Woods [020201] | '----------------------------------------' * Investigate the pollution of the forest * Time Challenge - 5:00 * Collect Coins - 180 * Elemental Gates - Life / Undead * SWAP Force Zones - Sneak / Dig * Bash Chests - 3 1. Stone Hat 2. Flower Fairy Hat 3. Flower Garland 4. Puma Hat Straight on over the wooden bridges and into the woods, a couple of trolls wielding wrenches will start attacking you. They're much like the sword fighting robots from the previous level so keep moving to avoid taking a hit. Just beyond them is a fork in the path, take the right to get to a Dig Swap Zone. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Dig SWAP Zone | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Here you'll be using the Dig Swap Power to dig under water for some | | reason. Because your dig duration is limited you'll need to stop to | | refill the bar, your first destination is the enclosed square on the | | right side past the fence. Dig your way over there and kill the two | | enemies, collect the spade to quickly refill the power bar. If for the | | next dig you go ahead to the right you'll find [Chest 1/3], next go | | directly to the left to a larger area with a tree monster called a Bark | | Demon. These have two types of attack, a melee swipe and a slightly more | | ranged root attack where they slam their branches into the ground and | | causes roots to pop up directly in line with them. Avoid that and keep | | attacking until it dies, once it does you can collect its key and dig | | over to the locked gate at the top end. | | | | Jump up the small green platforms past a couple of enemies and you'll | | reach a section with a large moving saw blade. Dig your way underneath it | | to get past and get into a fight with another Bark Demon. This one's not | | got a key but it is needed to be defeated to open up the Monster Gate. | | After that there's another pair of saws to go under, this time try to | | make sure you line up with the saws as you go under so that you can make | | it out the other end safely. After that it's just a few more green | | platforms with a couple of enemies before you reach [Hat 1/4 - Stone | | Hat]. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Take the left path now and jump off the wooden pier into the Monster Gated area below. First up are some little bugs, these are similar to Chompies in that they can be taken out in one hit. There'll be some more of those Greasemonkey trolls and a Bark Demon before the gate opens. Watch out for the water around the edge as it'll damage you. Jump up the platforms as the ones down low are actually just beneath the surface of the water so you'll take damage if you try to use them. Kill the troll at the top and jump down to the left. To the left of the next bridge is a giant ribcage, jump over it to the Undead Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Undead Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Walk forwards over the platforms that appear and jump past a bug and over | | onto a larger brick platform. Kill the bug on there and head to the far | | end, there's a series of round platforms with statues inbetween, the | | statues firing out purple lightning every few seconds, time your jump | | (you may need to make it a run and double jump to get enough distance) | | just after they pause. On the right side of the next brick section is | | [Chest 2/3], smash it and continue along to the left past a couple of | | trolls and onto a bounce pad. This final platform has a Bark Demon, two | | ranged robots and a present with [Hat 2/4 - Flower Fairy Hat], you'll | | need to defeat the enemies to open up the teleporter out of here. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Jump over the gap onto a small green platform and then over again to a larger section, watch out for the green water on this green platform, it covers the middle and the right so follow the edge around to the left to get to the platforms on the other side. As you go up the slope after the jump there's a lone robot firing at you from a platform on the left, keep on going towards the bend and take the path off to the right down towards a set of tree trunk platforms. Jump up those to find [Chest 3/3] and a bounce pad back to the path. Continue along to the left and then over the blueish green claw-like platforms, these sink down (but don't disappear) if you stand on them so you'll have to quickly jump up and down on them to be high enough to get onto the next platforms. After a grassy platform with a single bug on it there's another with a few more enemies on and up on the right side is the Life Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Life Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Immediately there's another [Chest 4/3] that you can get, go forwards | | over the pink flower and onto the giant leaves, these are bouncy and will | | make you jump higher. Go up to the top and kill a couple of pairs of | | trolls. That'll open up the Monster Gate and allow you to jump over to | | [Hat 3/4 - Flower Garland]. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Go left and over the decrepid looking tree roots to a larger grassy platform. Kill the ranged robot at the far end and jump along the small platforms to the right towards another spare [Chest 5/3], and another bounce pad to get back that short distance. If you jump up where the robot was standing and onto the platform behind it you can reach yet another [Chest 6/3] on a platform in the distance if you run and double jump over to it. Drop down to the right once you've jumped back and kill the last robot there. At the far end of the platform you can see several moving platforms, jump on the nearest one when it moves close and ride it across to a second platform. Again sit there waiting for it to meet up with the third and then finally off the other end. There's a few enemies and a Sneak Swap Zone on the right. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Sneak SWAP Zone | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Your Sneak Power this time is not actually for sneaking, instead you use | | it near a spike trap to see green footprints showing you where it is safe | | to walk. Approach the set of dots on the floor and enable your Sneak | | Power, the footprints should show going from the top right corner to the | | bottom left corner, follow them to get safely across. If you go up now | | and to the right use the Sneak Power again near the red flowers to see | | some footprints going directly through the middle of a set of spike | | doors, this leads to [Chest 7/3]. Turn around and go back towards the | | first spike trap and go left past the trolls to another trap. | | | | The Sneak Power will this time lead you from the bottom right to top | | left, be careful as you go around the corner as there's another spike | | door on the right wall so keep to the left. The next spike trap has a bit | | more of a windy path through it starting on the left side going down and | | then up again off to the right where there's a key. Go back across the | | spikes the same way you came in and then take the path to the right past | | a troll to a locked gate. At the end on the exit teleporter is [Hat 4/4 - | | Puma Hat]. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Get to the other end of the platform and jump up the giant mushrooms to the top of the tree trunk where you'll need to fight a few bugs and one last Bark Demon. Head inside to finish the level. ,---------------------------------------------, | [020202] Toadstool Terrace [020202] | '---------------------------------------------' * Rescue the Fairy Queen, Persephone * Time Challenge - 5:00 * Collect Coins - 250 * Elemental Gates - Water / Air * SWAP Force Zones - Speed / Spin * Bash Chests - 7 1. Elf Hat 2. Tree Branch 3. Carrot Hat 4. Four Winds Hat 5. Awesome Hat Jump onto the large red mushroom and then onto the blue one before jumping onto the grassy platform beyond. Kill a single bug and then jump up the mushrooms on the left side, at the top is a troll and [Chest 1/7] to bash. Jump back down and head towards the end of the grassy platform, don't jump up the mushrooms though, instead keep going along the right side and jump down off the end to the brown platform below. Bounce on the little purple mushroom to get up onto a blue mushroom with [Hat 1/5 - Elf Hat]. Jump back off and onto the green, spotted mushroom that also bounces you, this one takes you back up to the path. Go up the large mushrooms at the end and defeat the two ranged robots by the Monster Gate so you can head inside. Kill the two trolls in here before going up the slope on the left and out the door at the top. Another Monster Gate section, kill the bugs, trolls and robots that appear to open it up. Just past the bridge is a Bark Demon and the Water Gate on the left. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Water Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Jump over the flowers to get to the edge of a short bit of river, jump | | along the small platforms floating in it to cross over (the cracked ones | | collapse) to get up onto some more cracked platforms floating in the air. | | Go over them to get to a fight with a Bark Demon and a Root Runner, the | | Root Runner just sits there firing attacks at you so shouldn't be too | | much trouble to avoid taking damage. Smash the present to get [Hat 2/5 - | | Tree Branch] and jump up to the teleporter. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Jump onto one of the pink flowers that's moving by and sit there for a while, wait for it to get close to a platform on the left side with [Chest 2/7] on it. No need to go to the central platform, just jump back onto a pink flower and ride it to the opposite side to where you started. Go up the grassy ramps past a robot and a few bugs to get to a purple bouncy mushroom against the far wall, jump on it and use the bulky mushrooms poking out of the wall to get up. To the right now is a large red mushroom just off the side with [Chest 3/7], with that jump back and onto the spotty bouncy mushrooms that'll bounce you up to the top. On the right is the Air Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Air Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Go into the teleporter and then across to the first platform, wait for | | the leaves to settle on the floor and then jump on one. Wait on it until | | the wind takes it up and near the top of a pillar, jump over to that and | | across to another set of leaves to ride up to some platforms on the left | | corner. Go up them to the present with [Hat 3/5 - Carrot Hat] and the | | exit. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o And on the left side is the Spin Swap Zone. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Spin SWAP Zone | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | This Spin Zone has you using your Spin Power to raise flowers up while | | you're standing on them. First you'll have to defeat a couple of Bark | | Demons, after that go and jump onto the spinning pink flower and use your | | Spin Power. This will cause it to quickly rise upwards, wait until it | | gets to the top and move off to the left. Stop spinning and jump up to | | the top where there's another brief fight, try using your Spin to pull | | them all towards you. Go right onto another flower to Spin upwards, keep | | spinning as you transfer to a second one (while spinning on the flowers | | your spin is infinite) and then a third before going up some mushrooms to | | the very top. Don't go into the teleporter just yet, instead go around it | | to get [Chest 4/7]. Present with [Hat 4/5 - Four Winds Hat] should be | | here. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Straight down the middle now go past the two holes and jump up the left side of the hollowed out tree trunk to a grassy area. Jump up onto the platform on the left and kill the robot up there before jumping up the mushrooms to get [Chest 5/7]. Get back to the main path and carry on along the tree trunk to a pair of trolls and the Speed Swap Zone. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Speed SWAP Zone | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Speed both speeds up your movement and slows down moving obstacles and | | enemies so you can quickly get around them. Use your speed to get past | | the first two saws and over the yellow chevrons on the ground, that'll | | refill your speed bar. Keep on going past the saws and jumping over the | | gaps making sure to go over the yellow arrows to keep your speed going. | | At the end defeat a few bugs and trolls before moving on. The next bit | | has some mines to avoid too, the first set of chevrons is along the left | | side behind the saw so try that way. After jumping the last row of mines | | there's another battle to fight with a Bark Demon and some trolls. With | | those defeated just jump up the platforms past [Chest 6/7] on your way to | | a final speed section. This one's less wide and has saws coming out of | | the ground to avoid. If you do run out of speed just try jumping to | | counteract the backwards motion of the conveyor. At the end is a final | | pair of Bark Demons to defeat before you can get [Hat 5/5 - Awesome Hat] | | and exit. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Jump onto the orange mushrooms but take the left path up to [Chest 7/7] on a platform to the left. If you go towards the mushroom door ahead and instead drop off to the right you can find a spare [Chest 8/7] if you've missed one. To get back up jump up the mushrooms and onto the little bouncy one. Go inside to find a lock puzzle with Moneybones' head on it. Approach it and press Y. This is very similar to the puzzles you may have seen in the previous console games. To complete it you need to get the Imp to fall out, you do that by rotating the puzzle with the L and R buttons. They're fairly simple in this game though so it shouldn't be too challenging. The solution here is Rx2, Lx3. Pick up the key and go up the slope to the locked gate. Outside jump over to the Bark Demon and defeat him. If you're still missing a chest jump down to the left onto a blue mushroom below where [Chest 9/7] is, the bouncy mushroom will take you straight back up. That's the last of the chests though, if you're still missing one you're out of luck. Keep going along the large mushrooms over to a Monster Gate. There's a few bugs, a Bark Demon and some robots to defeat before you can go through it. And finally cross the bridge to reach Persephone. Pick up one of the bombs and throw it at her cage to finish the level. ,--------------------------------------------, | [020203] Fountain Springs [020203] | '--------------------------------------------' * Investigate the Fuel Machine * Time Challenge - 5:00 * Collect Coins - 200 * Elemental Gates - Magic / Earth * SWAP Force Zones - Teleport / Climb * Destroy 3 Mana-Pumps - 3 1. Gloop Hat 2. Safari Hat 3. Showtime Hat 4. Eyefro Forwards over the turtle shell platforms, they'll sink into the water after standing on them so keep moving. Go up the platforms (cracked ones will of course fall) to the top of the waterfall where you'll find a couple of trolls to attack and the first [Mana-Pump 1/3] to destroy by the water, it's the furnace looking thing with a pipe coming out of it into the water. On the right is the Teleport Swap Zone. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Teleport SWAP Zone | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | What the game forgets to tell you is how to move when teleporting. You | | need to hold down B to go up and let go of it to move down. Activate your | | teleport power and start making your way up through the basic maze, you | | need to go through the swirling things to refill the power bar to get all | | the way up. There's a break halfway through with a Bark Demon and a Chest | | (no requirement to smash them in this level though) before another | | teleporting section. Hit [Hat 1/4 - Gloop Hat] and leave. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Jump over the stepping stone and make your way around to the left until you see some floating pink flower platforms off the side, jump up them and head on over to the Magic Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Magic Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | As you walk forwards you'll notice platforms appearing, just keep walking | | straight to the first big platform where some bugs will appear. After | | them follow the platforms going forwards and then left, then forwards and | | to the right before it goes straight to the next big platform with a | | Chest on it. Defeat the Bark Demon that appears and take the right path. | | | | Go down at the first intersection, then left at the next. That should | | take you to a solid looking platform with a button you stand on. Retrace | | your steps down at the first and left at the second. Now take the left | | path, up at the first intersection and then down at the second, you'll | | reach another button to stand on. Get back to the big platform again and | | now go forwards over the two purple bridges you activated and you'll find | | [Hat 2/4 - Safari Hat] and the exit. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Wait a moment for the parade of platforms to get closer and then use them to cross the water, go down the flowers to a Monster Gate. Destroy the bugs, the ranged trolls and the Bark Demon to progress. Now up the flowers and then up the grassy platforms on this side of the water using a rock to start. Follow the pipe up to [Mana-Pump 2/3] past a Bark Demon. Jump back down and cross over the water using the stepping stones and get onto the large pink flower. Wait as it transports you up towards a few enemies and the Earth Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Earth Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Step onto the hanging platform and let it take you over to the next | | platform. After killing the troll it's time to smash some rocks with your | | attacks. The one on the right has a Chest inside it and the one on the | | left has the key. Through the gate onto another hanging platform to ride. | | And there you go, [Hat 3/4 - Showtime Hat]. What a challenge! | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o If you want to get Chests for the coins you can go left over the blue tilting flower platforms and onto a platform in the water to find another Chest (you might have seen it when you smashed the second Mana-Pump). Otherwise go right over some other blue tilting flower platforms to some enemies and the Climb Swap Zone. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Climb SWAP Zone | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Climb Zones don't need to use the Climb Power, instead you're just | | automatically climbing up the wall. Avoid the steam jets coming from the | | pipes and watch out for the attacks from the Root Runners. Not much of a | | maze really, just keep on going up and you'll eventually reach [Hat 4/4 - | | Eyefro] to get out. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Jump up to the next ledge and then up a couple of flowers to a Bark Demon. To get another Chest take the platforms leading off to the right, there's a teleporter to bring you back too. Go up the left platforms all the way to the top where you'll see [Mana-Pump 3/3] in the middle of the Monster Gate area. You've got a few bugs, ranged trolls and Bark Demons to defeat before you can get to the bounce pad behind the gate. Jump over the flowers and continue up the rocky platforms and up the conveyor belts onto the drill platform. Go around the side and finally up to the top to finish the level. ,--------------------------------------------, | [020204] The Fuel Machine [020204] | '--------------------------------------------' * Free the fairies * Time Challenge - 5:00 * Take no damage from missiles * Elemental Match - Life * SWAP Force Match - Spin * Don't Eat Food Time for a boss level. First pick up the bomb that Persephone gives you and throw it at any of the cages (if you miss she'll get you another one) which will bring Count Moneybones out to fight. Walk to the side to avoid his sawblade attack and then start attacking him, if you're using melee attacks you'll want to circle around him to avoid his steam punch as well as more sawblades, if you're ranged then attack until he gets close and then move out of the way before attacking again. After a bit he'll jump away to recharge, time to bomb a second Fairy cage (if you miss you have to refight him). Defeat the enemies that he sends out (a few bugs and trolls) and he'll jump back in. This second stage adds a rocket firing sequence where he stands still and fires a load of rockets up into the air, avoid the red crosses to be safe. Again keep on attacking him until he jumps off to recharge, bomb another cage and then defeat some more enemies. Not anything different in his third stage of attack, same as the second one. After bombing the last Fairy cage you'll get attacked by a few more enemies, there's a Bark Demon in there this time. And now for one final round with Moneybones, he's maybe a little faster moving but repeat just as before to finish it. When you're back in Boom Town go and talk to the mole who looks and sounds a lot like Diggs but is apparently called the Prospector. He's over near the entrance gate. Persephone has created a place for herself next to the Portal of Power, if you go to her there's a present on the ground with [Rain Hat] inside. When you're done with them talk to Flynn to go to the next level. ,--------, ,-----------------, ,--------, | [020300] |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~| Crystal Caverns |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~| [020300] | '--------' '-----------------' '--------' ,-----------------------------------------------, | [020301] Shimmer Shard Shire [020301] | '-----------------------------------------------' * Find the crystal source * Time Challenge - 5:00 * Collect Coins - 200 * Elemental Gates - Earth / Fire * SWAP Force Zones - Speed / Rocket * Bash Chests - 6 1. Leprechaun Hat 2. Atom Hat 3. Traffic Cone Hat 4. Asteroid Hat Go past a couple of Chompies to a rocky type of enemy, a Crystal Golem, they're not much of a threat though. After killing it jump through the gap in the wall on the left side to get to [Chest 1/6], jump back and move on up through another village area. Kill another couple of Chompies and a ranged robot before jumping over a gap in a wooden bridge to reach a couple more Chompies. Carry on past the windmill and over the long wooden bridge and you'll see a house collapsing. Move on past some more Chompies, over a broken up long wooden bridge until you reach the Rocket Swap Zone. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Rocket SWAP Zone | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Rocket Swap Zones require you to activate your Rocket Power and then to | | move through the floating rings to get to the other end, going through a | | ring will refill your bar so don't hang around. On occasion you can skip | | a ring but the rocket power does run out quite quickly so you'll want to | | fly through most of them. Note that the rings don't disappear when you | | fly through them so you can actually double back and go through the same | | one again, which means doubling back after missing one you can go | | backwards through it to make sure you don't fall and then forwards | | through it again to make sure you reach the next ring. | | | | The first break point is to attack a Trog Pincher, this large enemy has a | | close range attack which you can avoid by jumping over his head when he | | pulls his arms back. Keep on going through another set of rings and | | you'll reach [Hat 1/4 - Leprechaun Hat] at the end. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Go down the slopes to the right and you'll find a bomb at the bottom, take that up the first bit of the slope and throw it at the cave. Inside you'll find a Trog Pincher guarding a key, defeat it to get the key and then leave. Go all the way up the slopes past the Swap Zone to a Fire Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Fire Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Jump into the volcano and then simply jump forwards along the platforms, | | watching out for the purple projectiles going across. At the midpoint | | stand on the left button and wait for some platforms to appear on your | | left, jump along them quickly to reach a button on a platform to the | | left. Now repeat for the right button. The rest is just a few jumps over | | the remaining platforms to reach [Hat 2/4 - Atom Hat] and the exit. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Go right up the stepped platforms to the locked gate that you can open with the key you found in the cave. Follow the rocky platforms past a few Chompies until you get to a Monster Gate, kill the two Crystal Golems and the Trog Pincher, before you carry on jump to the right off the side to find [Chest 2/6], the bounce pad will take you back up again. Watch out for falling debris as you continue along the path past a few robots and some more Chompies. Just to the left when you get to the Crystal Golem is [Chest 3/6] next to the crystals. Keep jumping along the stone platforms until you reach the Earth Gate on the next main platform. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Earth Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Jump along the platforms and then attack the Chompies, go up the slopes | | past a couple of robots, at the top on the large, grey, round rock stuck | | in the ground you can find [Chest 4/6] hiding just over the top of it. Go | | left and the exit is a few jumps away with [Hat 3/4 - Traffic Cone Hat] | | next to it. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Carry on up the slope to the left to the top where you can see [Chest 5/6] and the Speed Swap Zone. Kill the Crystal Golem enemies around here and then go in. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Speed SWAP Zone | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | This Speed Zone features a bit of side-scrolling. You'll need to quickly | | run under the moving blocks to avoid getting squished, and to speed past | | laser beams to avoid getting blown up. Go right until you get to the | | corner. Once round it jump over the blocks and then start going under | | some more moving ones, you'll have to pause under each block rather than | | just rush through. There's a few more blocks to jump over and then some | | enemies to kill, speed through the lasers, jump some more blocks and then | | do a similar sequence with the next set of blocks - it's moving a little | | faster this time though. After that you'll want to kill another Crystal | | Golem and then speed through laser beams a few times to reach [Hat 4/4 - | | Asteroid Hat] at the end. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Go up the ramp on the left side and go along the platforms making your way down to a pair of Golems. Carry on by across more platforms and you'll reach some running water, jump along that to get to a spot in the middle of the water by the waterfall. If you go directly into the waterfall you'll get [Chest 6/6]. With that head down the stream and jump off the end. Go up the stepped path past several more enemies until you see the worm and reach a final Monster Gate. Defeat the enemies that appear including the Crystal Golems and the final Trog Pincher. If you happen to still need one there's a spare [Chest 7/6] on the right side once you're done, it appears where a large crystal once was. Go into the tunnel to finish the level. ,-------------------------------------------, | [020302] Crystal Caverns [020302] | '-------------------------------------------' * Follow that worm * Time Challenge - 7:30 * Collect Coins - 215 * Elemental Gates - Undead / Air * SWAP Force Zones - Teleport * Bash Chests - 3 1. Battle Helmet 2. Biter Hat 3. Tricorn Hat 4. Bowling Pin Hat 5. Feathered Headdress Go down into the cave and you'll reach some water, jump over the platforms watching out for the two ranged trolls standing in the middle. Keep on going until you see the worm again. On the left side now is the Undead Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Undead Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | The spiked platforms at the start flip over so quickly jump on the near | | one when it turns to the safe side and then jump to the second pretty | | much immediately, if you wait any longer the platform you're on will | | knock you off. While you will get hurt a little if you land on the spiked | | side it'll only kill you if you keep on doing it. Do the same sort of | | thing for the next three platforms after the troll before jumping up to | | the next part. | | | | Go up the slope after the Chompy and follow it around to the left past | | another troll. Jump up again to a fight with a Trog Pincher and [Hat 1/5 | | - Battle Helmet]. Teleport out. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Continue down the cave over some water and through into the next section of the level. Go down the slope past where the worm just popped out and jump onto the swinging platform as it gets close, jump off it to the next swinging platform when it's at the highest point and again transfer to a third at the other end of the second one's swing. Careful though as the last platform moves a fair bit faster. Jump from the revolving platform over to some Chompies, [Chest 1/3] and a troll. Over on the left side next to a lever is a boarded off mine entrance, if you smash it you'll be able to reach [Hat 2/5 - Biter Hat] behind it. Now pull the lever to start some platforms moving. Jump on one and sit there waiting for it to take you to a platform in the distance. Once there jump off and attack the two Chompies and one Crystal Golem. Watch the worm go by again as you jump to a swinging platform in the distance, jump from there onto a small rocky platform that tilts over when you land on it, and from there to a second and then onto a bouncy net. From the net jump onto a swinging platform and then onto dry land. Follow it along and up to another Crystal Golem and a couple of trolls by a Monster Gate. With it open jump onto a swinging platform beyond it and over to another troll on a rotating platform. The next platform has [Chest 2/3] on it and after another swing you're at the Teleport Swap Zone. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Teleport SWAP Zone | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | The game this time tells you how to go upwards when teleporting, hold B. | | Look at the panel in front of you with three element icons on. Press the | | Y button to activate it and watch closely as it lights those same three | | symbols up on the platforms ahead. The order is Life, Fire, Air, and what | | you have to do is land on them in that order without landing on anything | | else inbetween, which is where your teleporting ability comes in | | (although you are actually able to just jump it), land on them in that | | order to get across, if you land on a wrong one you just fall through and | | have to start over. Done successfully (left middle, right bottom, back | | middle) you'll open the purple barrier and be allowed past. | | | | Jump past a troll to another panel with elements. The order this time is | | Tech, Undead, Earth. The tricky thing this time is that the platforms are | | moving so the thing to do is to remember the spacing between them rather | | than their exact position, while you're in Teleport mode you can see the | | icons as well so if you've lost track already pop into it to get another | | quick look at where they currently are positioned. When you've landed on | | the third one they all become solid so don't worry about stepping on any | | wrong ones after that. The end is just ahead, it's got [Hat 3/5 - Tricorn | | Hat] sitting on it. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Jump down to the next platform and jump over the gap in the wooden bridge up to a couple of enemies. There's another lever on the next platform, pull it to extend the bridge over to a bomb. Grab the bomb and quickly jump over the rotating platforms so you can get into range of the blockage at the end, throw the bomb at it to open it up. Around the corner from the blockage you'll see the worm go up through the ground, pass by the left side of the hole it made and onto a net, bounce your way up to another net and then another. Next to that net is [Hat 4/5 - Bowling Pin Hat] on the edge of the wall, make sure to stop bouncing there and get it before carrying on up to the top. On the left side at the top is [Chest 3/3], get it and defeat the Chompies, trolls and Crystal Golem that appear before stepping onto the catapult behind the Monster Gate. After landing jump up to the right to where the Air Gate is. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Air Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | The Air Challenge is quite straightforward this time, just jump along the | | platforms and into the whirlwinds that'll bounce you along. Kill the | | enemies inbetween and you'll quickly reach [Hat 5/5 - Feathered | | Headdress] at the end. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Follow the arrow through to the next section. A sort of boss encounter. First run up the right side to where the worm is and pick up a bomb, throw it at the worm. Now go run up the left side and do the same thing again. With that done jump along the platforms you knocked down and finish the level. ,---------------------------------------------, | [020303] Twilight Fortress [020303] | '---------------------------------------------' * Shut down the worm * Time Challenge - 6:30 * Collect Coins - 200 * Elemental Gates - Life / Tech * SWAP Force Zones - Dig * Bash Chests - 5 1. Dangling Carrot Hat 2. Officer Hat 3. Crystal Hat 4. Boonie Hat The level begins with a straight path past some Chompies, over a small gap and then up a ramp to the Life Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Life Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Step into the teleporter and go up either of the side mushrooms once | | you're inside. On the left you'll find a few trolls before you reach the | | bomb, throw it at the rocks in the distance and then step onto the bounce | | pad. The right has a Crystal Golem but it's the same really. Throw the | | bomb at the wall again and back onto the bounce pad. Cross over the vines | | to reach the large talking tree who'll give you [Hat 1/4 - Dangling | | Carrot Hat]. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Head towards the screen along the left side up the rest of the slope, there's a Crystal Golem at the top and [Chest 1/5] on the left at the end. Go to the right over the gap to where there's a troll and then jump to the right over a gap to get to [Hat 2/4 - Officer Hat]. Jump back and follow the path into the cave. Go down the path, at the first corner just towards the screen a little is [Chest 2/5], follow the path forwards through some Chompies and a troll to get to a segment of the worm sticking out of the ground, attack it to get it to move out of the way. Cross over the coverstone that it drops back in place and attack the Trog Pincher, once he's dead use the bounce pad to your right to get up to a ledge above. At the back of the cave is a lock puzzle, you'll first have to wipe out all the Chompies to get to it. Even more basic than the first one the solution is L, Rx3, Lx2. Take the key back outside and jump down to the gate. Do not take the path to the right, instead go straight on and you'll reach the Dig Swap Zone. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Dig SWAP Zone | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Time to dig under a load of whirring blades. Go directly down the middle | | so you can pick up the shovel and extend your time underground. Once | | through attack the enemies to open the Monster Gate. Jump up the | | platforms behind it (they collapse so don't stay too long on them), don't | | get too close to the crystals blocking the way as you'll take damage, go | | under them straight down the middle again, there's a shovel to grab. | | | | After that there's a few more enemies blocking a Monster Gate and then | | some more platforms to jump along. The next digging part has the blades | | moving position, shouldn't be a problem if you immediately move and don't | | stop until you get past. One last fight with some Trog Pinchers before | | you can grab [Hat 3/4 - Crystal Hat]. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Walk back towards the screen and now take the path to the right of the unlocked gate. Move as fast as you can towards the screen jumping over the obstacles as the worm chases behind you, you'll eventually fall off the end to safety. To the left of where you land is a bounce pad that takes you up to [Chest 3/5]. Jump back down and go right to a bomb, throw it at the wall and wait a moment to pick up another bomb. Once you've got it jump onto the purple bouncy mushroom and up to a second wall to blow up. Go through it and down to another bomb and another mushroom, throw it while you're in the air and then go through that third wall and down the other side to a third bomb. This time throw it at a bit of the worm to your right. Forwards towards [Chest 4/5] up on a ledge ahead of you, you'll need to go just past it and double back after the Chompies. Keep on going along the path over a swinging platform and past some enemies, you should see [Chest 5/5] down to the left as you reach the slopes going up to the Tech Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Tech Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Jump over the laser beams on the conveyor belt and attack the Trog | | Pincher to open up the laser Monster Gate. After a few more laser jumps | | there's a large open section with crystals on both sides, go to the left | | side and approach the crystal, rotate it so that the large end is pointed | | towards the side of the laser gate. Go left along the conveyor belt over | | some more lasers and take out the troll, rotate the crystal in the bottom | | right corner three times so that it faces to the left which opens up | | where there's a spare [Chest 6/5] if you missed one. Once you've got it | | turn the crystal twice more so that it points the light beam to the | | right, that should now be going into the receptacle next to the laser | | gate. | | | | Still the other side to do though, return to the middle and turn the | | right crystal once so that it faces the other receptacle and then go | | along the right conveyor belt. Turn the bottom left crystal three times | | to face left, the top left crystal once to face down and the top right | | crystal once to face left, that should all line up to open the laser | | gate. Go through it and over the lasers on the conveyor belt to fight one | | more Trog Pincher before reaching [Hat 4/4 - Boonie Hat]. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Go left and then jump along the large single platforms until you reach another part of the worm blocking your way, attack it to get by. Go forwards until you fall down a hole and end up inside the worm. Move to the right down onto a conveyor belt, quickly run under the piston as it rises up but then immediately stop and wait for the steam to stop (if it's going), repeat with another piston and some more steam just past it once the way is clear. Jump up and hit the crystal in the path to start the self destruct, keep going to the right along another conveyor belt, this time it's going against you so you'll have to run a bit faster to get under the pistons, keep on going until the end of the level. Back in Boom Town you can now go get another hat, if you go along the path that the workers built to the left you can go into a new shop where the Prospector and the Giant Tiki from the previous game have set up. In there you'll find the [Space Helmet]. Talk to Flynn to go to the next level as usual. ,--------, ,-----------------, ,--------, | [020400] |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~| Coral Head Cove |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~| [020400] | '--------' '-----------------' '--------' ,-----------------------------------------, | [020401] Above the Sea [020401] | '-----------------------------------------' * Gain entry to the Robot Factory * Time Challenge - 5:00 * Collect Coins - 200 * Elemental Gates - Water / Magic * SWAP Force Zones - Teleport * Bash Chests - 7 1. Umbrella Hat Jump along the turning purple shell platforms ahead of you and then over a short wooden bridge where there's a couple of Chompies and a ranged robot to defeat. Jump onto the back of one of the large purple sea creatures and wait for it to swim around to the opposite side, go up the slope avoiding the rolling coconuts to get to a village area. There's a troll, loads of Chompies and another robot to defeat to open the Monster Gate, don't go through it just yet though, instead go to the beach ball by the fountain and jump on it, it'll bounce you up onto the roof of the building where [Chest 1/7] is. Carry on over the bridge towards a giant sandcastle, as you go around it to the right avoid the spikes and pass by the beach ball to continue all the way around the bottom and grab [Hat 1/5 - Vintage Baseball Cap]. With that use the beach ball to bounce up to the next layer of the castle and go around the opposite side again, there's [Chest 2/7] on this layer to get before you use the beach ball to get to the next one. This penultimate layer is just some spikes and one last beach ball to take you to the bounce pad on the very top. Once you land go right into the Water Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Water Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Bounce pad over to the platforming area ahead, you'll be circling up to | | the right over gaps. Very basic stuff but watch out for the platforms | | covered in water as they're slippery, also watch out for the falling | | coconuts. At the top is a bounce pad that'll take you up to the present | | [Hat 2/5 - Shark Hat] and the exit. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Take the left path now over the bridge towards a set of enemies, at the back on the left just down the ledge is [Chest 3/7]. The next pair of circling sea creatures needs a bit more attention as there's a pair of oars turning around too that'll hit you, jump over that every time it comes by until you can jump onto the platform on the other side. To the right is the Teleport Swap Zone. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Teleport SWAP Zone | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | The first part of the Teleport Zone is not that much of a maze, just | | follow the only path you can to a pair of trolls and a Monster Gate. The | | next bit is much the same except that there are drops down to spikes so | | move in a general upwards direction after going through the gate. There's | | a few more enemies on the next bit of solid ground with another Monster | | Gate, after them it's only a short distance to the next enemy, just go up | | to the left and you'll reach the large flamethrowing pirate. With him | | dead drop down to the left and pause at the teleport sphere, if you go to | | the right over the spikes you can get [Chest 4/7], then come back and | | drop off to the left right back to the start where there's now [Hat 3/5 - | | The Outsider] and the teleporter out of here. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o More of those purple fish up next, and with even more oars to jump over. Go up the slope avoiding some more coconuts to another village with a fountain. On the left side you can jump up onto the flower thing next to a building and get [Chest 5/7]. Go into any of the three buildings and defeat the enemies inside. That'll rescue the gillman in here and cause [Chest 6/7] to appear. Now into another of the houses, there's just a few Chompies in here. And finally into the last remaining house, kill the robots around the outside and then smash through the crates to get the key underneath. Go out and open the locked gate in the village. The order that you enter the houses is what determines what is inside them. Take the left path on the other side of the locked gate to go into the Magic Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Magic Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Fairly simple here, just go straight on avoiding the axes (look at the | | floor where they hit it to get an idea of exactly where they will damage | | you) and defeat the enemies along the way. [Hat 4/5 - Fishing Hat] is up | | the steps at the end after the flamethrower. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Now take the right path over the bouncy beach umbrellas and then along the rotating shell platforms to a load of enemies. Defeat the flamethrower, the trolls and the robot to open up the Monster Gate by the door at the back (obviously follow the sign and don't go swimming in that black stuff). Don't bother pulling the lever just yet, instead carry on to the right and up the beach balls to the top, drop off the left just by the gate to get [Hat 5/5 - Umbrella Hat]. Drop down to the start and pull the lever and make your way up the balls and through the gate outside at the top. The lever out here lowers a wall in the oil and opens up a laser gate to allow you to jump back down. Approach the edge of the oil and wait for the platforms to start moving, jump along them and up the steps at the end. Go right and back towards the camera, jump over a few rotating blades to get to [Chest 7/7]. Go back to where you exited the oil and carry straight on over the umbrellas. Work your way up the ramp with the robots on (on the right side just before the top you'll find a spare [Chest 8/7]), defeat the flamethrower guy at the top to lower a drawbridge that you can cross to finish the level. ,-----------------------------------------, | [020402] Robot Factory [020402] | '-----------------------------------------' * Reach the Control Room * Time Challenge - 8:20 * Collect Coins - 270 * Elemental Gates - Tech / Air * SWAP Force Zones - Speed * Bash Chests - 5 1. Don't go through the Monster Gate though, instead go up the left path to the first [Chest 1/5], next go up the right path to the Tech Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Tech Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Jump down to the path below and round the corner to a series of large | | rotating gears, jump along the ones sticking out of the walls and then up | | the ones rising and lowering until you get to solid ground with a troll | | and [Chest 2/5] on it. Jump onto the moving platforms and get to the | | highest one of the four, jump from it onto the second set of four and | | wait to be taken around near the exit where there's a couple more trolls | | and [Hat 1/5 - Turban]. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Now you can go through the Monster Gate, approach the grey square at the back of it and activate the elevator. You'll now have to defeat a load of Corn Hornets, robots and one large drill enemy before the game will let you move on. Once you're done go forwards up the ramp past a few more enemies and over to a set of conveyor belts. The ends that the belts are moving towards have a furnace that blasts out every so often so try to avoid getting to close to those parts when you're making your way up them. At the top you'll see the last conveyor belt going off to the right, don't follow it instead go backwards to the left along it to a section with [Hat 2/5 - Boater Hat]. Now you can go along that last conveyor belt, you'll need to watch out for the closing and opening blocks along the way, jump off the end down to a set of rotating laser things. Jump the lasers as they pass by going forwards along another conveyor belt and then down off the end. Go a little further down and then to the right where there's [Chest 3/5] in the corner, with that go forwards past the goop on the floor to some Corn Hornets by a Monster Gate, once the gate is down pull the lever behind it. That'll raise one piston and activate the left bounce pad. Use it. If you go straight down instead of going to the left you'll get [Chest 4/5], go back up and then take the left path down to a couple of trolls by another Monster Gate. There's another lever behind to pull and a bounce pad to jump on. That will take you over to the right bounce pad. Go around to the right edge of the lava pit and turn the wheel to activate all the platforms. Jump on the nearest one and make your way closer to the middle each jump, however do not go through the door just yet. Instead wait to go around the back of the structure, on one part there's [Chest 5/5] and on the other there's [Hat 3/5 - Police Siren Hat], once you have both of them ride a platform around to the front and go through the door. Take a bomb and throw it at the blockage on the right up the ramp, there's just a few Corn Hornets before you reach the switch to raise the last piston. Cross over the pistons and go through the door to the outside. To the left up a ramp is a spare [Chest 6/5] as well as a few enemies, keep on down the other side of the ramp to kill some more enemies by the Monster Gate. Again don't go through that gate but instead go further right to the Air Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Air Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Up the ramp and into the teleporter to land on a flying carpet. Start | | jumping up the platforms, you can stand on the shorter sides but they're | | a little too high to jump to from the circular platforms, you may just | | need to use them as you're going up. At the top is a bounce pad that'll | | take you over to [Hat 4/5 - Bottle Cap Hat] and the exit. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Now through the archway and inside again. Avoid the giant rollers moving back and forth as you run forwards, at the far end you'll see the Speed Swap Zone. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Speed SWAP Zone | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | As you speed along with the Speed Power make sure to counteract the | | conveyor belts that are trying to push you off to the sides. At the end | | of the first section is a wheel to turn, you need to hold the Y button | | until it's fully open instead of just pressing it. Then once the path is | | fully open use your speed to get through it before it slams shut again. | | There's a few enemies and then another bit of speeding, first over some | | gaps and then through some rollers. Out the other end is a set of enemies | | by a Monster Gate, the gate will lower to reveal a bomb. Grab the bomb | | and race along the left side to get to the blockage in time to throw the | | bomb. Behind it is [Hat 5/5 - Bacon Bandana]. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o And forwards through some more rollers to reach a second elevator. Activate it and start fighting. The last set of enemies will be with the second drill guy. Once you reach the bottom get off the elevator and down to a splitting path. You'll need to go both left and right to get two keys that are needed to go down the middle. First we go left. Jump along the pipes watching out for the steam coming out of them, pause on the last one to wait for the nearest furnace to switch off, then jump down and run along the conveyor belt. Jump over the gap with the moving laser beam and step onto the bounce pad. Move forwards to activate the enemies, there'll be a few waves before the Monster Gate drops and you can get the key and teleport back out to the middle. Now to the right. It's another set of rollers and pistons to run through. At the end you'll find a Lock Puzzle to solve. This one you at least have the opportunity to mess up. The solution is Rx2, Lx4, Rx3. Grab the key, teleport back and go forwards to the locked gate to finish the level. ,-------------------------------------------------, | [020403] Robot Assembly Center [020403] | '-------------------------------------------------' * Defeat Count Moneybone * Time Challenge - 5:00 * Take no damage from rolling charge * Elemental Match - Water * SWAP Force Match - Speed * Don't Eat Food Straight into the boss fight. First kill the small enemies that come in on the conveyor belts off to the left and right sides, eventually you'll start Boss Wave 1. Watch out for his initial ranged sawblade attack, it'll be quite a wide attack but if you stand still you should be okay, after that just try to stay a short distance away from him and move out of the way each time he raises his hands to do either a punch attack or use his flamethrower. If you're too far away he'll do the ranged attack that can be more difficult to avoid if you're moving. After you've inflicted a load of damage he'll collapse into a ball and begin rolling around the arena, the safest thing to do is just to stand still near the edge, move out of the way if it looks like he's rolling towards you but otherwise you should be fine. After he stops rolling attack him so that he's knocked into the compactor at the back of the arena, then pull the lever on the right. Another wave of enemies will start pouring in, there's some ranged robots in this set but nothing too dramatic. The same thing as before will happen with Moneybone, keep attacking until he rolls up. After that knock him into the crusher again. The third wave of enemies has a large robot that smacks the ground, once they're all dead Moneybone will attack again. Same procedure as before to finish off the fight. Back in Boom Town before you head off to the next level you might want to go by the surfer guy's place, he's to the left of the Prospector's shop on a new pier. After killing them there's a Drow Witch on a small rock in the middle of the path, she fires long ranged attacks out at you and doesn't move. At close range her attack is really accurate so make sure to jump over her when she pulls her arms back. On the left is the Water Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Water Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Jump along the platforms in the water, try to avoid the jumping Chompies | | but keep moving as the platforms sink. Once over the first bit there's a | | button to stand on, it'll raise up some lilypads that you need to quickly | | jump along before the water spouts drop back down again (if they do | | there's a bounce pad below to take you back to the button). Again over | | some square platforms to the end [Hat 1/4 - Nefertiti Hat]. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Taking the right path you'll discover that the bridge is a bit broken up, jump over the gaps and down the other side. There's a few more dogs and another Witch up ahead. Beyond them is a button like in the Water Gate, stand on it to bring the lilypads up, jump up them like a staircase to reach the grey roof following directly on from them. Go to the left up the tree branch and carry on along it past the wooden pier bit, jump to the left onto the green bush part of the tree where you'll find [Chest 1/5]. To get back up jump onto the higher green part of the tree and then back onto the branch by the pier. Use the button on the pier to raise up some more lilypads, quickly make your way up them and along a wooden platform past a couple of spearmen (if you want to kill them you'll have to double back and hit the button again) and quickly off the far end up some more lilypads. On dry land ahead is a line of dogs to attack, if you go along the left side of the water ahead and up the rocks you'll find [Chest 2/5] (the water here is not deep, you can walk through it). A little past that you'll find a pair of Witches and a larger robot enemy that punches the ground when you get near to it. More enemies will appear to replace the dead ones until they're all gone (check to the right) and the Monster Gate around the bounce pad drops. After bouncing out of there go along the red ledge you land on to the left, at the end is [Chest 3/5], go back to where you landed and cross the water using the floating lilypads, after the first three you need to hit a switch, another switch after another couple and then three more to the end. Jump up the orange trees going to the left and then along some green trees, once you get to another orange tree jump off the side down to an orange one below you that you should be able to see a bounce pad on, it also has [Chest 4/5] just below it. Bounce back up and take out the witch, keep on going along the trees avoiding the incoming projectiles as you do. The projectiles still keep coming even when back on solid ground, kill the two spearmen and get to the far end of this first platform. Go up to the right onto a rock and then an orange tree with the Spin Swap Zone on it. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Spin SWAP Zone | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Jump the first gap and then use your Spin Power to spin through the fire | | tornado to pick up [Hat 2/4 - Firefighter Helmet]. Keep going to the next | | rock and then jump up a small set of platforms with a witch at the top. | | Spin over some more lava going directly through the fire tornadoes to | | pick up the keys inside them, the platform in the middle has an icon that | | refills your power bar so you can get all the way across in one go. At | | the end kill a pair of witches and unlock the gate with your two keys. | | The next bit of lava is one long section with the icons in the tornadoes, | | go through the three of them to reach the end where there's a big robot | | to kill before you can get the prize of [Hat 3/4 - Stovepipe Hat]. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Jump back to the grassy platform and take the left rock over to a path running along a cliff side. Go to the right, after the first jump watch out for the steam vents coming out of the lava crack in the wall, there's another one a couple of jumps later and then one final one before rounding the corner at the top. Go along the green bridges, kill the dogs that attack and avoid the red crosses that try to lock onto you to fire cannonballs at you (don't bother trying to spin deflect the cannonballs back, it don't work). At the top there's a spearman and a witch as well as the Magic Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Magic Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Just jump along the platforms and into the lit up one, it'll throw you | | upwards to a large robot to defeat. Jump into another one after that and | | then along some platforms and then up again to a witch. There's another | | out on the platforms, jump along them and up to the end [Hat 4/4 - | | Elephant Hat]. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Continue along the green bridges behind where the witch was and down to a large robot. Defeat it and then follow the tail path up to the left, you'll eventually make your way to a circular arena where another of those large robots will attack. Kill it and all of the witches surrounding it to open up the Monster Gate. Before continuing up the tail to the left go down to the right and down by the water you'll get [Chest 5/5]. Jump on the stepping stone in the middle of the waterfall you created and then go along the edge of the upper pool rather than carrying on to the right. Jump onto the green platforms in the water up to the left where there's [Chest 2/5] and a bounce pad that takes you up onto a rock to your right. Go around the empty pool to the right and take out the two witches on the grass before jumping up the rocks in the middle of the pool where there's another witch and depressing the plunger on some more fireworks. Some trees will appear by the rock you landed on earlier, go to the left and jump up them to reach a Mabu standing by a cannon. As you round the water you'll encounter another of those large robot enemies, get rid of him and continue on up to a section of swinging platforms. Jump on the first as it gets close and then off it to the second as it gets to its highest opposite point. Do the same with the second and third swinging building. Run along the ground by the dry stream past a couple of spearmen to where there's a Bounce Swap Zone, if you look just out into the lava there's a platform where you'll see [Chest 5/5] to smash. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Bounce SWAP Zone | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Jump onto the first of the floating platforms and press the L button, the | | platform will tilt and aim in the direction of another platform, press | | the B button to jump over to it. Platforms will turn and move so if | | you're facing an empty space wait a moment for you to either turn to face | | another platform or for another platform to move into range. The last of | | this set launches you onto a larger red lantern that'll automatically | | bounce you up onto a solid platform way above. No real pause though as | | you're straight onto another section of the lanterns. | | | | If you jump onto the red lantern partway through a move to the right you | | can get up to a spare [Chest 6/5] on a platform above to the right, the | | lantern to the right of it will then throw you almost to the end of the | | section of jumps, just one little jump to get down there. Defeat the | | witches and the Chompies to open the Monster Gate. Behind it is a series | | of square platforms you can walk along, the brighter ones will fall down | | but the dark ones will stick around so are safe to pause on. At the back | | to the right you'll find another spare [Chest 7/5] but go along to the | | left past a couple of witches and up the last few squares to get to the | | end with [Hat 3/4 - Beacon Hat]. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Go into the building to the right, inside you should find two spearmen and a large robot. Just as a warning I've had times when one of them didn't appear which meant the game would then not let me continue as there's a Monster Gate associated with them, the only solution I had was to exit the level and go through it all over again hoping they'd all appear this time. Anyway, once you've killed the three of them a plunger will appear at the back of the room to press. Back outside again follow the stream back a short distance and then go up the buildings with the enemies on, at the top is a couple of kites that you'll need to jump on to get on top of the waterfall you just made. To your right now there's a couple more witches as you enter a sidescrolling section, at the far end you'll see a large waterwheel rotating, jump up onto it and as you reach the top it'll fall off and start rolling through the lava. Keep moving to to the top of the wheel as it goes along all the way over to the platform at the far end where you'll need to jump off. Go up the steps past a couple of witches and then up the rooftops of some more buildings, on your way up past some more enemies you'll see another spare [Chest 8/5] before you get to some tree platforms. Jump along them and onto some kites, if you jump up to the left on them instead of going straight you'll find the Life Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Life Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Jump along the pink trees over to a bomb, throw it at the large rock and | | wait for the water to fill up. Jump along the new set of pink trees | | (watch out for the Corn Hornets) over to a Monster Gate covering a bomb | | dispenser, to open it up you've got to take out the Chompies that are | | surrounding the large bombable rock. Circle around it killing them and | | then go back up the slope to bomb the rock, you'll have to stand a little | | closer but not too much, just at the edge should be okay. Another set of | | pink tree blooms will appear, jump along them to a bounce pad that'll | | take you up to another area. Landing will cause the area to flood so jump | | along the rocks going to the left taking out the witches to reach a bomb. | | Throw it at the obstruction that you can see dead ahead and then double | | back and go up the blooms over through to the exit where [Hat 4/4 - Tiger | | Skin Cap] is to be found. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o This time take the kites forwards into the building ahead. This building is set up with a series of Monster Gates you need to pass through, first defeat the Chompies and the witches and then go through to another fight with some spearmen and another witch. The next section has a couple more witches and two large robots before opening the exit door. Watch out for the Corn Hornets in the air as you jump along the kites to the final fight with a large robot. With him defeated finish talking to the Mabu and press the final plunger. ,--------------------------------------------, | [020503] Fire Flow Valley [020503] | '--------------------------------------------' * Find the Skeleton Key * Time Challenge - 7:30 * Collect Coins - 225 * Elemental Gates - Fire / Tech * SWAP Force Zones - Climb * Bash Chests - 5 1. Jump over the lava to the left, stay on this part and walk towards the edge towards the camera, in the left corner you'll find [Chest 2/5]. Some more lava to the left to jump over, go up the short bit of steps to get to a witch. There's another witch atop the next set of stairs as well as the Climb Swap Zone. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Climb SWAP Zone | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | The climb zone is a fairly straightforward "maze", just watch out for the | | steam vents and the hot walls. Once you get to the part with the lava | | falling keep on going down and go to the right at the bottom. Other than | | the [Hat 2/5 - Turkey Hat] at the end there's nothing else in there. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o There's a Monster Gate to the right, all you need to do is take out three spearmen one by one to get through. Jump along the platforms floating in the lava and then go up the steps to the Fire Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Fire Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Step on the button to bring up a set of platforms in the lava, start | | making your way across them (there's not a time limit), on the longer | | platform make sure to jump along it rather than run along it as otherwise | | it'll collapse into the lava and take you with it. There's a large robot | | to defeat on the other side, after that go up the steps behind the | | Monster Gate and move towards the camera to get [Chest 3/5], then go | | forwards and left over a small bridge and then up to a second button. | | Jump along the platforms that appear in the lava making sure to keep | | jumping when you need to wait for platforms to move into position. At the | | end is [Hat 3/5 - Archer Hat]. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Head to the right and use the platforms to cross the lava, at the top of the steps go to the right and back towards the camera where [Chest 4/5] is sat. Go left over the lava stream and you'll find [Chest 5/5] in the far corner. Defeat the witch and go up the slope at the back, up the steps at the top and attack another of the large robots. If you go to the right at the top of the stepped platforms floating in the lava you can find a spare [Chest 6/5]. Next cross the lava ahead along the two long platforms jumping your way safely to the other end. Up the steps behind the spearman and through the doorway. Jump over the lava to the left as you go in to get up over a conveyor belt and reach the Tech Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Tech Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | A simple light beam puzzle to kick the challenge off, turn each of them | | once to line up the light to open the laser door. Jump up the gears, at | | the top is a robot and another puzzle. This one needs the left crystal | | turning twice and the right crystal three times. Carefully cross the next | | set of gears making sure to jump over the laser beams as you go to fight | | another robot by a Monster Gate. Behind that is [Hat 4/5 - Caesar Hat] | | and the exit. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Jump back over the lava and continue on forwards over a thin strip of land over lava with a witch on it. Jump up over the conveyor belt to reach a series of square moving platforms, make sure to time your jumps to land in the carts without the lava in them. Jump up onto the pipes and grab a bomb, take it down to the right and throw it at the large rock blocking the way ahead. As you stand on the fallen rock you should be able to see [Hat 5/5 - Bearskin Cap] on the rocks to your right. Grab another bomb and throw it at the next obstruction a short distance on. Jump up the pipes after that obstruction to get to another bomb dispenser, jump along the pipes to the right and throw it at one final blockage. Cross over it and go up the ramp at the back after killing all of the enemies that appear. Back outside again kill a few dogs and then cross the rickety looking wooden bridge as quickly as you can. Take a running jump to get as far across it as you can without touching it and then run and jump the rest of the way to reach a foggy area. Through the fog a few enemies will run towards you, ending with a large robot. Once the Monster Gate is open go through it, up the ramp and into the cave at the top. For some reason we're still going, kill a few dogs and jump down the lava carts over to some platforms above the lava. You'll see three conveyor belts with crates on falling into furnaces, look closely and you should see a key inside one of the boxes, destroy all of the boxes on that conveyor belt until it comes round again and you can grab it. Use it to unlock the gate at the back and enter the final room of the level. Watch the lava rise and fall, it covers the little platforms that connect the larger ones so get ready to quickly cross the first set when the lava begins to drop. Kill the spearman on that first platform and make your way across another set of stepping stones towards a witch and then again to a robot. Leading off to the right from the robot's platform is the path to the middle where the Skeleton Key is sitting, grab it to finish the level. Back in Boom Town talk to Hugo to be taken to the next level. ,--------, ,---------------, ,--------, | [020600] |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| Undead Fiesta |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| [020600] | '--------' '---------------' '--------' ,------------------------------------------, | [020601] The Party Town [020601] | '------------------------------------------' * Find a way to Count Moneybone's Villa * Time Challenge - 4:30 * Collect Coins - 200 * Elemental Gates - Fire / Magic * SWAP Force Zones - Rocket * Bash Chests - 7 1. Before going into the Fire Gate go to the right along the edge of the cliff where you'll find [Hat 1/4 - Scrumshanks Hat]. Now go into the Fire Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Fire Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Wait for the plumes in the lava to die down before jumping over the first | | gap, move on up the slope, at the left end is [Chest 1/7] before you go | | to the right. There's a few enemies to kill but not much more until you | | get to the end with [Hat 2/4 - Sombrero]. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Bounce up the drum and then make your way up the small platforms to a few enemies and almost immediately the Rocket Swap Zone. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Rocket SWAP Zone | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | After the first rocket part there's a couple of those sword swinging | | enemies and then some platforms to jump up before reaching the second | | part. Time your start here to try to avoid the first set of moving mines | | but it doesn't really matter too much if you hit them as there are plenty | | along the way. Take either of the two paths, they both meet up at the | | same place ahead, another fight but this time with a Monster Gate to open | | and an Ogre blocking your way. The ogres have an attack that brings down | | ice onto you and will pound the ground when you get near. Jump up the | | platforms behind him to reach [Hat 3/4 - Gaucho Hat]. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Jump along the small platforms and then along the brick platforms past some Chompies and a few more sword robots before you reach land again. Keep on going straight to a broken up circular area, if instead of going to attack the ogre you jump to the first floating broken piece off to the right you'll be able to smash [Chest 2/7], jump back and take down the ogre. Just to the right of the locked gate is a doorway, go inside to find a trio of sword robots to kill. Defeating them will open the monster gate at the back where the key is hiding. Grab it and go back out to unlock the gate. Bounce up the drums to the rooftops and walk along them taking out the Chompies while avoiding the large holes that appear underneath each of the coins. As you reach the first jump you'll see to your right [Chest 3/7], with that smashed jump back and continue along the buildings, use the bounce pad at the end. After landing kill the Chompies and sword robots at the base before bouncing on the drum up to a second layer, kill the Chompies here and bounce up on the left drum (the near one doesn't really go anywhere interesting), go inside. Just to the right as you enter the bar is [Chest 4/7], go over and talk to the lizard behind the bar to open the exit. Leave the bar and jump on the rotating platforms, avoid the spiky sides if you can. There's an archer standing on a platform to the right as you go down them and another one on the left as you get to a solid platform with skeleton arms. To the right side of that up on the skeleton hand is [Chest 5/7]. Keep on going along the flipping platforms all the way down to some brick platforms. Attack the Chompies as you go along these and then watch out for the two ghouls on the next large one. These multicoloured enemies will run towards you and take a swipe, easy to avoid just don't sit there attacking them dead on. Past the first two there's a third and then you reach a larger open area with a fountain in the middle, to the left is [Chest 6/7] and on the far edge is the Magic Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Magic Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Jump up the platforms until you reach a gap with some electricity in it, | | a purple bridge will fade in and out that you need to jump on to get over | | the gap. Jump over the electricity as you do but make sure to adjust for | | the purple bridge pushing forwards as you do so. Straight on past a few | | more of those is a skeleton archer and [Hat 4/4 - Paper Fast Food Hat] | | behind him. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Grab a bomb from the fountain and throw it at the bombable wall ahead, there's a couple of ghouls you might want to take out first and an ogre behind it. Jump to the brick platform and then onto the moving skeleton hands, if you can try to get from one hand to the other of the same skeleton in one jump rather than waiting for the opposite skeleton to raise its hands. There's a flipping platform in the middle before you get off the other end. To the left side of the ghouls ahead is the last [Chest 7/7] to bash. Go past a few Chompies and over another gap to a couple more ghouls at the base of some buildings. Bounce up the drum and take out the archer up there, go up another drum and then go to the right, jump down to the right to attack the second archer. If you need it there's a spare [Chest 8/7] just below where you are now. Bounce back up to the top and go talk to the blue ghost off to the left of the line of ghosts, go into the line of ghosts after that to finish the level. Back in Boom Town you can pick up a present from the Reaper's section of town, it's [Hat - Fishbone Hat]. And if you go west you'll find a new area where the Green Dragon has set up, on a rock in the water is [Hat - Crown of Frost]. The game suggests using the crypt door in the middle of Boom Town but you can also just go talk to Flynn as usual if you want. ,------------------------------------------, | [020602] Down the River [020602] | '------------------------------------------' * Cross the River of Souls * Time Challenge - 7:30 * Collect Coins - 200 * Elemental Gates - Water / Life * SWAP Force Zones - Dig / Bounce * Bash Chests - 4 1. Get off the boat and you'll find a Bounce Swap Zone. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Bounce SWAP Zone | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Before you can get started there's a couple of ghouls to kill, once | | they're gone jump up onto the first of the drums and start up your Bounce | | Power. For the top drum you need to hold forwards so that you land on top | | of the cliff. Go past the Chompies and along the boney bridge, at the end | | of that there's a larger platform with a few more Chompies and ghouls on | | it, at the far side of that platform is a drum to get on. | | | | It'll rotate around so you can jump onto a moving drum, jump off it onto | | a solid platform. Run and jump up to the left where there's a drum and | | use it to bounce to the [Chest 1/4] behind it. Once you've done that jump | | back to the solid platform and go forwards onto the closest drum, wait | | for the moving drum to get into its lower position before jumping. | | Another set of bone platforms to cross next, watch out for the two | | ghouls. After that it's a corridor of rolling things that you need to run | | past to avoid. Behind the ogre ahead is [Hat 1/4 - Sawblade Hat]. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Go right up the steps past a few Chompies and an archer, jump the gap and attack a ghoul before running to the end to fight an archer. Jump along the small platforms to reach a path that goes up to the left. Kill the Chompies as you go up it all the way to a Monster Gate with some more Chompies, ghouls and an ogre. Cross the bone platforms to reach a lever, pull it and then start down the bone platforms to the right. Partway down on the left side you can go off to the Water Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Water Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Go up the slope on the right to get to a button, stand on it and then | | race along the raised lilypads straight over the first solid platform to | | a second one with a ghoul on it and a second button. Stand on that button | | and again race along the lilypads, take them to the right where there's a | | platform with [Chest 2/4], hopefully you'll have enough time to quickly | | get back onto the lilypads and make it up to the final platform. If not | | then just jump in the water and start the lilypads again. Kill the ghouls | | by the exit and grab [Hat 2/4 - Mariachi Hat] before leaving. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Get back to the bone platforms and continue down them to the right, you'll reach the boat again and have another fight sequence to complete. As you get off the boat be careful not to fall into the circular hole just yet, instead jump onto the giant skull behind the Reaper to get [Chest 3/4]. Now you can jump down the hole. The purple water down here is harmless but it does push you back so keep jumping as you move along to make progress. Get past the swinging axe and take down the Corn Hornet and then past another and a second axe to a bomb. Pick it up and run past a third hornet, run with the bomb past the next axe and to the island in the stream to throw it at the blockade ahead. Just through there there's a few Chompies and a lever to pull. The path ahead is a slope this time going down so you'll be quickly running past axes and Corn Hornets. At the bottom is a green bounce pad that'll take you a short distance up onto a bone platform. Wind your way up the bone platforms using the bounce pad to get higher, don't go through the exit instead carry on around to [Chest 4/4], then double back and go through the door. The boat's down to your right for another fight sequence. At the stop you'll see the Dig Swap Zone. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Dig SWAP Zone | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Dig under the ground and go left under the blades, partway along you'll | | see a small island off to the left with [Chest 5/4] on if you're still | | looking for one of those. Go back under the blades and over to the | | ribcage platforms, there's some Chompies on them. On the first solid | | platform after the bones you'll enter a monster fight, kill the two | | ghouls and the ogre to open the gate at the back. Behind it is a row of | | spiked balls, dig underneath them and stay underground until you've | | passed the second set. Defeat a few more chompies and then make your way | | along the platforms up a slope trying to avoid some colourful spiked | | balls rolling down it. At the top you'll find three more Chompies and | | [Hat 3/4 - Deely Boppers]. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Go up the steps to the right and down the slope on the other side. At the bottom you'll find [Chest 6/4] to really make sure you've got all you need. Jump over the green goo across the sinking platforms to an archer. Kill it and carry on along some more sinking platforms to some bone platforms. Take the right path to get to the Life Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Life Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Jump along the platforms ahead of you, defeat the ghoul sitting on one, | | and then take the right path (left is a dead end to a 5 coin). At the | | next split in the path go straight ahead (although right does lead to | | [Chest 7/4]) making your way up to a ghoul and Corn Hornet guarded [Hat | | 4/4 - Pants Hat]. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Get back to the first bone platform and then start walking along the rocky path along the edge of the cliff. Pause to avoid the rolling spiked balls, jump over them if you can. At the top of the winding path you'll find a Monster Gate, kill the Chompies, ghouls and the ogre to open it up. Go through and up the steps past a few more ghouls and an archer to reach a large wooden door to finish the level. ,---------------------------------------------, | [020603] The Haunted Villa [020603] | '---------------------------------------------' * Find Count Moneybone * Time Challenge - 7:50 * Collect Coins - 200 * Elemental Gates - Earth / Air * SWAP Force Zones - Climb / Bounce * Bash Chests - 3 1. At the top follow the curve around to the right towards a locked gate. Go left and before you go inside keep going around the outside as [Chest 1/3] is behind the building. Inside you'll find a lock puzzle. Lx3, R, Lx3, R, L, R. Go back out and unlock the door. At the end of the path just past the platforms leading off is the Air Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Air Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | For this one you're supposed to avoid the tornadoes. Once you've got that head back up and then | | across to some more window+falling chompies and continue up to the top | | where [Hat 2/4 - Card Shark Hat] is by the exit. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Start winding up around the building and then to the right across a bridge to a stone section of ground where you go to the left against the wall. Take out a few Chompies and ghouls before a single ogre. Go through the Monster Gate and over some falling platforms to the Earth Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Earth Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Go up the slope past a few Corn Hornets and then left across some | | crumbling platforms. After a few more Hornets there's some more platforms | | that crumble, if you go to the left on them you'll get a spare [Chest | | 4/3], wait for the platforms to return before going right up to the exit | | [Hat 3/4 - Purple Fedora]. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o To the left of the Earth Gate is a wooden platform with some gears in the wall behind it, this is an elevator. Stand on it, to the right at the top is another spare [Chest 5/3] and to the left is a doorway to go through. Go up the slope past a few Chompies and a ghoul before jumping up over a folding platform to a lever, pull it to open the gate outside. Go past the gate, some Chompies and over some gaps and you'll reach a large skull door with a locked door on the left and an open one on the right. Go into the open one. Jump onto the moving platform on the left side and then again to another on the right, one more transfer to the left before you reach the top where there's a key. Jump down and go out to open the left door. In the locked room you this time need to jump from the first moving platform to a folding platform and then quickly to the second moving platform, don't hesitate otherwise you'll fall to the floor. At the top of this one is a lever to pull, go outside again and through the skull's mouth. Take care of the four ghouls that appear so you can move on up the carpeted steps behind the Monster Gate. At the top you'll find three wheels you can turn, the idea here is to make it so that the platforms ahead of you are safe to jump along. The left wheel flips the 1st the 2nd and the 5th platforms, the middle wheel flips the 3rd, 4th and 5th platforms and the right wheel flips the 2nd and 4th platforms. Fiddle with the two wheels on the left until you've got the 2nd and the 4th platforms only as spiked sides and then turn the right wheel. The second set of wheels are as follows: the left one controls the 1st, 2nd and 5th platforms, the middle wheel the 3rd, 4th and 5th platforms and the right wheel the 2nd and 4th. Same procedure as before pulling the left and middle wheels until it's only the 2nd and 4th platforms that are upside down. Cross the flat platforms and head up the steps, go past some ghouls up to some swinging chandeliers. Jump onto and run and jump along them dropping off to the side partway through to reach the Bounce Swap Zone. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Bounce SWAP Zone | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Very similar to previous Bounce Zones but instead of drums you've got | | ghosts to jump on. Regular jump over to the first one and then initiate | | your Bounce Power and start jumping between ghosts, you'll quickly end up | | on a solid platform with an enemy to defeat, after that jump onto the | | nearest ghost and start bouncing along again. Try not to jump while in | | the air otherwise you'll probably end up immediately bouncing off the | | next ghost, instead just keep holding in the general direction you want | | to go. Once you've landed on the last of the ghosts (a moving platform | | that doesn't bounce) jump onto the solid ground and head up the steps to | | some circular platforms to jump across where there's a Monster Gate. | | | | Defeat the few enemies that attack, a couple of ghouls and an ogre and | | smash the [Chest 6/3], go across some more platforms and up some more | | steps to reach the second bounce area. Bounce along them right up to the | | end (the last one may need a bit of timing to land on the moving ghost | | platform) where [Hat 4/4 - Teeth Top Hat] is waiting. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Jump back up onto the nearest chandelier then over to another on the left before reaching some steps to go up. At the top you'll see a band playing and then have some ghouls appear (over to the right is yet another [Chest 7/3]), defeat them as they keep pouring out of the doorways, the last enemies are a pair of ogres. Once they're down the central door will open up and allow you through to finish the level. ,--------, ,------------------, ,--------, | [020700] |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| Clockwork Castle |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~| [020700] | '--------' '------------------' '--------' ,--------------------------------------------, | [020701] Clockwork Castle [020701] | '--------------------------------------------' * Reach Count Moneybone's lair * Time Challenge - 14:00 * Collect Coins - 200 * Elemental Gates - Fire / Tech * SWAP Force Zones - Sneak * Bash Chests - 6 1. Capuchon 2. Princess Hat 3. Roundlet 4. Knight Helm And we're back to the robot enemies, ahead of you is one of those sword wielding ones and two ranged robots. Kill them and go through the door behind them, inside you'll find a Monster Gate with several more of the same robots. Destroy them all and pull the lever at the back of the room before going back outside again. Go up either ramp that's turned around and go through the door in the middle at the top. As you approach the far edge several gears will pop up to become platforms, jump along these killing the enemies that reside on them. Once you get to the red squares at the end another set of gears will pop up leading off to the right. Jump up to the top where you'll see the Fire Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Fire Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Take the elevator down into the challenge and then move straight ahead | | past a couple of robots and down onto a square platform. Run along the | | rotating cylinder to a platform with a ramp going down, now wait and | | watch the lava below as it rises and falls to cover the pipes ahead, as | | soon as you see it dropping down start moving and run along the pipes (on | | the left you'll find [Chest 1/6]) and up the other end. If you fall in | | you'll probably need to wait for the next go round before trying again. | | | | Over another cylinder you'll find another ramp down into the lava, again | | wait for it to drop before running along the pipes and then up the | | platforms at the end. Immediately there's another ramp down, if you this | | time make your way over to the right side you can get [Chest 2/6] but | | probably won't make it all the way as well in that run. On the other side | | you'll find [Hat 1/4 - Capuchon] and the elevator back out of here. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Go through the doorway and then straight up the ramp through another door. Walk forwards and some steps will appear, jump up them to some rotating propellers you need to jump onto. Watch out for the enemies on there if you don't have long ranged attacks to take them out as you'll bump into them and get pushed off. Once you get across the next propeller and onto a stationary platform jump to the left side and pull the lever there three times, that will bring one hand of the clock towards you and leave the other facing the right (quarter past six or half past three), go onto the clock hands and over to the right where you'll find [Hat 2/4 - Princess Hat]. Go back to the switches and pull the right lever twice to make the top hand face to the left now. Go over the hands again to grab [Chest 3/6] and then return to the right lever to pull it three times and make the hands go straight. Cross straight over the clock hands and down the platforms on the other side to another lever, that'll move some ramps you walked up previously, step into the teleporter on the right to be taken back there. Go down to the left and then up the middle ramp before heading up to the left through a door. Outside go left to get [Chest 4/6]. Heading right jump onto the moving platform as it dips below the ledge then jump to the next as the one you're on reaches its highest point. Keep doing that across the platforms until you reach the last one, there you'll see some platforms moving in and out of the wall. Jump on the first one and wait for it to nearly completely go in before double jumping to the right to land on another one just coming out of the wall. From there you should be able to double jump to solid land where there's an enemy. Next up is a rolling cylinder with cannons being fired across it, jump up and down on it to prevent falling off as you wait to go past each cannon just after they fire. On the other side is a couple of sword robots and then some more platforms moving out of the wall, these ones are a little more straightforward in pattern, you should be able to walk along them most of the way as they pop out in sequence. After that there's another rolling cylinder with cannons followed by a couple of ranged robots. Go up the ramp and ignore the door for a moment, instead jump up to the right to a platform with [Chest 5/6] and then go through the door. Watch the carts on the track and look at the bombs on them, jump onto one with a bomb that isn't flashing and take it across the next platform to throw at the wall that pops up. Repeat for the next bit but with a larger robot attacking you, and then again with four of the flying robots. Go down the ramp and on the left is the Sneak Swap Zone. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Sneak SWAP Zone | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | In this Sneak Zone you'll be mostly sneaking through laser beams. Go | | straight forwards and stealth through the first set of beams, unstealth | | and kill a few enemies before continuing forwards and then left through | | another set of beams, around the corner you'll find [Chest 6/6] and a | | dead end. Double back and take the path to the right after the first set | | of beams. Around the next corner is another laser beam to walk through as | | well as a large chompy, to the right after that is a spare [Chest 7/6]. | | Go up to the left through another beam and then continue on going left. | | At the next junction sneak down through the laser beam and at the end of | | that corridor you'll find yet another [Chest 8/6]. | | | | Go back through the beam and take the left path up through two beams and | | go right. Through another and ignore the passage to the north as you | | continue going right, at the end you'll find another beam to go through | | and one last [Chest 9/6] in here. Return to the passage leading north to | | find the [Hat 3/4 - Roundlet] and the teleporter out of here. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Go through the door out to some moving platforms. Jump on the closest one as it gets near and ride it to the right until you can jump onto the second one. Before jumping to the third watch as it passes over the dip in its track and folds down, try not to jump on it as it's about to go over that dip but also try not to stay on it long enough to be taken back to it, quickly jump to the fourth and ride it to the left to jump up to a solid platform with [Chest 9/6]. Now jump onto the furthest forward of the moving platforms and patiently ride it to the right, as soon as it gets close to the dip in the track double jump to the right to try to land on it when it unfolds. Once there jump to the next platform and ride it to the right before jumping onto the platform it goes underneath before it pushes you off. Go left and wait for a platform to either appear from underneath you or the next platform to get close (if you fall off in this section make sure that you are facing the correct direction when you respawn). More jumping and avoiding the dips to get over to the door at the far end of the room. Go to the right around the giant orrery and as an electric barrier appears jump up onto one of the platforms that rise out of the ground as the floor is about to be electrocuted. Once it stops run along to the right as far as you can before it starts again, jump up onto a platform and wait. Keep doing this until you're all the way around and can exit the room. Jump up the rotating gears, if you go to the left at the back you can get into the Tech Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Tech Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | There's a couple of robots to defeat before starting the platforming. | | Jump on the nearest platform while the left one is electrified and then | | jump to the right as the start to switch. Keep doing this alternating | | jumping along the series of platforms to solid ground and a couple more | | robots on the other side. Then it's back to some more electric jumping | | but this time with a circle of the platforms with only one of them active | | at a time, much quicker to cross unless you're following the bolt. Kill a | | large robot before traversing one last set of those platforms to reach | | [Hat 4/4 - Knight Helm]. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Now up the gears to your right to some pistons moving in and out. Jump across them and up onto some more gears along with [Chest 10/6] and jump down to the left through a door. To the right is a button, stand on it to lower some platforms out from the wall. Jump up them quickly and press another button to lower a few more. At the end of those there's a platform to land on that throws you upwards, continue quickly jumping to the left onto another throwing platform and then to the right before they go back in. There's a few more of these before you reach a large cog wheel, stand on one of the teeth and wait for it to take you up to the top (if you're still missing one [Chest 11/6] is just over the top, you'll need to jump back up the teeth to get back to the door). Inside walk forwards and pick up the floating gear, wait for the elevator to stop and then place it in the top left of the flashing spots by walking over to it. Defeat the enemies that appear and place the second gear that appears after defeating them in the top right spot. A few more enemies including some ranged enemies on the sides will arrive, kill them to get the third gear to place in the bottom left. The last bunch includes a large robot, put the gear in the bottom right to open the door, go through to finish the level. ,-------------------------------------------, | [020702] Clockwork Arena [020702] | '-------------------------------------------' * Defeat Count Moneybone * Time Challenge - 5:00 * Take no damage from falling books * Elemental Match - Tech * SWAP Force Match - Rocket * Don't Eat Food The fight begins as usual with a wave of enemies, there's a load of sword robots and a few of those little dogs but nothing major. Count Moneybone will then start his first attack, run out of the way of his purple laser gun and then keep moving away from him as he runs towards you, he'll then jump into the air and slam back down causing a shockwave, jump over the shockwave to avoid taking a large amount of damage. He has a few other attacks like firing out a load of robot Chompies and firing a large slow flying missile that you need to keep outrunning so that it explodes away from you safely. Keep attacking when you can until he jumps away. Now you need to go chase after him, jump up the cogs leading away to the right and try to avoid the projectiles falling onto them (use the shadows) to get up to the second section. This second wave of enemies has a few more in it and some of the ranged robots in there too. Moneybone's second attack pattern is pretty much the same as his first, just keep pausing to attack him every so often. Again he'll jump away and you'll have to platform along to the left to follow him. Be careful of the gears that get destroyed when you get close, if you see several possibilities to jump to then it's likely a few will be destroyed. Go through the door to the final battle. The third wave of enemies will again be pretty much the same but with larger numbers at once and Moneybone has a new attack which brings in one of those flying ranged robots. Once you've worn him down another wave of enemies will appear, these are a bit different though and it's made up of ghouls, Chompies and an ogre. When Moneybone begins his breakdancing attack stand in one corner and jump over the blasts to avoid getting hit. Finish him off to complete the game. If you've played through all the levels in Normal mode or above you'll get [Hat - Creepy Helm] and if you've done them all in Hard mode you'll also get [Hat - Volcano Hat]. And once you're back in Boom Town you'll find [Hat - Great Helm] in the middle next to Hugo no matter what difficulty you completed. ,--------, ,---------------, ,--------, | [020800] |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| Tower of Time |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| [020800] | '--------' '---------------' '--------' ,---------------------------------------------, | [020801] The Tower of Time [020801] | '---------------------------------------------' * Destroy the Corruption Crystals * Time Challenge - 10:15 * Collect Coins - 215 * Elemental Gates - Water / Tech * SWAP Force Zones - Rocket * Bash Chests - 3 1. Ski Cap 2. Graduation Hat 3. Greeble Hat 4. Future Hat 5. Pilgrim Hat Walk forwards to talk to the Time Keeper in the middle of the area, then go over the bridge of cogs to some steam vents. Turn the red wheel by the steam on the left to cause the far steam to start going higher, jump onto that steam to get up the cliffside. There's another wheel on this first ledge, turn it to be able to use the steam on the pipe to get up to the top where there's a key. Once you've got it go back to the starting area. Cross directly over to where there's a bridge of platforms that are quickly flipping up and down, if you pull the lever next to them you'll pause time and stop them from moving, so ideally do it just as the last one raises up and before the first drops back down but you can jump over a single gap. Quickly run across it and grab the key. Turn around and pull the lever on this side to do the same thing as before. The door that these two keys unlock is at the back of the starting area just to the right as you get back there. Go up the rotating platforms and up past a troll as you go over a cog bridge and then jump up towards a green crystal. With the crystal now blocked off turn around and go back the way you came over a now wooden bridge and past another troll. The platform ahead is a tilting platform so don't stand too close to the edge for too long. On the right as you jump off it is the Water Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Water Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | The large platforms in here are covered in ice and the smaller ones fall | | away as you stand on them. Keep on jumpimg over to the next platform | | until you reach a larger ice rink area. You're looking for an item in the | | ice blocks but there are Crystal Golems in the others so be careful. The | | one you're looking for is at the back on the right, take the wheel over | | to the right side of the ice blockage to place it on the pipe. Behind the | | ice is [Hat 1/5 - Ski Cap]. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Time for some low-tech steam vent manipulation. Push the small boulder to the right so that it covers the active steam vent and then jump on the new vent to ride it up to the top of the platform where there's a lever. Pull the lever when the four vents ahead of you are all active so you can use them to jump across the gap. Kill the troll on here and then jump ahead to another large tilting platform that'll lead you over to a platform with another small boulder and steam vent combo, push the boulder onto the vent to raise up a set of platforms. Jump up them to another troll, left onto a tilting platform and then over to a large robot who has a key for the Time Keeper's cage. Once you've defeated him unlock the cage. All you have to do to get to the crystal is jump off the side, smash the crystal and then step into the teleporter. Pull the lever to stop the platforms all raised up to cross over them to get to some steam vents. Before you turn the wheel jump up onto the steam to the left of it and let it take you up a short distance, jump from the top up to the left onto a rotating platform and keep going up to the left to a large island with [Hat 2/5 - Graduation Hat] sitting in the middle. Now jump back down and turn the wheel, use the steam by the ledge to get up. In the middle of the walled area is a Monster Gate, the monsters for it are to the left (if you've got a Giant you can just smash through the wall to the right and ignore the bomb) up some gears. Kill the large robot and the Chompies to open the bomb dispenser. Jump back down the cogs and grab a bomb to throw at the wall to the right. Go through and try to grab the key. Forwards into the walled area again, this time with a light beam puzzle to solve. Turn the near one three times so that its beam hits the middle one then rotate the middle one once and then the right one so that the beam hits the wall to unlock the laser gate. Go up the floating gears to reach a couple of trolls and a large robot holding a key. Defeat it to get it and then go back down. Now turn the middle crystal so that it sends the beam to the left, that should open the gate and let you jump up some more cog platforms. At the top you'll find the Rocket Swap Zone. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Rocket SWAP Zone | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | First clear out the debris and then zoom along through the hoop over to a | | Crystal Golem and a troll up on the ledge. Jump up the platforms and | | clear some more debris before reaching the top. There's a few more | | enemies before you get to some more debris to clear before you can Rocket | | over the gap through a ring. Down below there's a final large robot to | | defeat to open up a Monster Gate so you can Rocket over to the end with | | [Hat 3/5 - Greeble Hat] (try jumping forwards at the start if you're not | | quite making it). | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Back down the cogs to the light beam puzzle with your key, unlock the gate on the right side and go through to the crystal. Smash it. Go past the Time Keeper and then up some more of those spinning cogs, if you go to the right at the top you'll find [Chest 1/3], once you've bashed that jump onto the large rotating cog to your left over to a robot by a Monster Gate. Go inside when you can. Pull the lever just after the third platform goes up to get it in time with the fourth one you can't see, go over the platforms and up the steps at the back to another large robot. Instead of carrying on upwards go down to the right at the back to bash [Chest 2/3]. Jump back up and go up the back at the left towards a lever, pulling it will stop the spinning gear to the right so you can use it as a platform to jump over the gap. Outside go to the right past some enemies and around the corner to some nets you can bounce on. [Chest 3/3] is in the middle of them so make sure to bash that on your way up. Skip the door to get to the Tech Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Tech Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Time to fix that empty clock. Go left up the gears, past a rotating blade | | and then down to a large robot to defeat. He'll drop the first of the | | clock hands, pick it up and then start your trip back along the gears to | | the start. The righthand path is much the same but with a pair of blades | | at the end, defeat the robot to get the second hand and then make your | | way back to the middle again. Approach the clock with the two hands and | | then go inside to get [Hat 4/5 - Future Hat]. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Now go through the door. Jump over to the wooden platform with all the chompies on and pull the lever, that'll flip the platform on the left so that a net is showing. Bounce up the net to the platforms above. Take out the enemies and jump up to the right where there's a Crystal Golem by a Monster Gate. Once outside again go to the right and take down the large robot before rounding the corner, pulling the lever and jumping up the stopped gear. In the little alcove up here you'll see [Hat 5/5 - Pilgrim Hat] and a few chompies. Keep on going up to the right to defeat a few more enemies by a Monster Gate before you reach the very top of the tower. Kill the few waves of enemies that appear and then smash the last crystal to complete the level. ,--------, ,--------------------, ,--------, | [020900] |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~| Sheep Wreck Island |~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| [020900] | '--------' '--------------------' '--------' ,----------------------------------------------, | [020901] Sheep Wreck Island [020901] | '----------------------------------------------' * Defeat the Vortex Monster * Time Challenge - 5:00 * Collect Coins - 200 * Elemental Gates - Undead / Earth * SWAP Force Zones - Sneak * Bash Chests - 3 1. Funnel Hat 2. Zombeanie 3. Glittering Tiara 4. Sailor Hat 5. Toy Soldier Hat There's an example vortex for you just ahead, jump in one and appear out of the other. Simple. Carry on past it to the Mabu sitting by another one, jump into the vortex just off the edge to be whisked away to a platform to the left. Jump over the gaps and keep following the path along to half a pirate ship. Attack the ranged pirate and then jump up onto the front of the ship to reach the vortex and be thrown to the back of the ship. If you walk the plank on the right side of the back half of the ship you can go out onto a couple of stone islands with [Chest 1/3] on the left one. Get back onto the ship and cross over it to get to some platforms leading off into the distance. If you go down to the right once you hit land you'll find [Chest 2/3] next to a couple of mines. Jump back up to the path and carry on past another ranged pirate up to the top with a flamethrower pirate and the Earth Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Earth Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Jump across the platforms that appear and then across some crumbly ones | | over to a larger platform with several enemies. Don't stand on the | | cracked portions of the floor for too long as they'll turn into a hole | | pretty quickly. Once you're done with the enemies cross to the opposite | | side and continue along some more platforms all the way to [Hat 1/5 - | | Funnel Hat]. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Jump along the platforms to the right, watch out for the mines bouncing up and down through the red and orange vortexes. There're a few signs ahead, one Sneak icon and two red explosion icons that indicate a minefield. Slowly walk through the gap and you'll see the mines appear, don't get too close as you move to the left a bit before going towards the [Chest 3/3]. Jump up the ledge and make your way to the left up to a flamethrower pirate and across a platform to the Sneak Swap Zone. Before you go in though if you drop into the vortex just behind the ranged pirate you get taken over to [Hat 2/5 - Zombeanie]. Jump back into the vortex to get back and then go into the Swap Zone. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Sneak SWAP Zone | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | The sneaking in here will be primarily to get past the green laser beams, | | this one's not so much about sneaking through darkness. You can't jump | | over them safely so, you know, don't. Go to the right past a flamethrower | | and through three laser beams, just off to the side at the top through | | another laser beam is [Chest 4/3]. Smash it and then go back to the start | | to go along the left path. | | | | Go through some more laser beams and kill a couple more flamethrowers | | before going to the right and then up (the path down don't go anywhere), | | keep following the curve around to the right through another beam and | | another flamethrower. After that the next thing to go through is a set of | | three beams right next to each other, follow this around past another | | trio and then one final beam to get into the middle and grab [Hat 3/5 - | | Glittering Tiara]. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Jump back to the right and make your way off the far edge into a vortex that doubles for the broken bridge. Kill the flamethrower ahead of you and his two ranged allies, two more flamethrowers will appear and once you've got rid of them the Monster Gate at the back will lower. Jump into the vortex. Jump into the purple vortex ahead of you and then drop into the orange one on the right. Wait on the island, do not go into the vortex. Keep waiting until a small moving platform appears from the right, jump onto it and ride it over to an island with [Hat 4/5 - Sailor Hat] on it. Get back to that vortex platform and jump into the righthand orange one, that'll take you to another set of vortexes, drop into the green one and then jump from the platform into the other green vortex to be thrown over to a big island. Over on the opposite side is the Undead Gate. o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Undead Challenge | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Jump over the bone platforms and approach the flipping platforms. Jump | | onto the first as it flips over to the flat side and then jump to the | | second just as they start to flip again. Do again and you'll reach a | | platform with some enemies on. Watch out for the lightning as you get rid | | of them and then go over to the far side where there's another line of | | flipping platforms to get across. And again after some Chompies you've | | got the flip platforms to navigate. Kill the flamethrower at the end and | | pick up you final hat [Hat 5/5 - Toy Soldier Hat]. | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o There's a cannon on your left pointed at a vortex that's changing colours, if you fire the cannon it'll come out of the matching colour vortex, you need to do it once for each colour but it doesn't matter if you send it through one you've already done so just keep firing until all three statue heads have been smashed. Jump along their broken platforms to get to a purple vortex. Ahead of you is a flamethrower pirate and up to your left is a couple of pirates along with [Chest 5/3]. Go along to the right down the passageway to the large purple vortex, it'll throw you out on the upper level. Go forwards and take out the Monster Gate to jump into a green vortex. Jump up the stepped ledges to the left and you'll find a cannon next to a gate, fire the cannon to hit the Vortex Monster and the gate will open. Go along the small platforms while running away from the suction that the monster is causing. Keep going left over some wooden plank platforms and you'll reach a second cannon to fire. Go through the gate into a blue vortex and then jump off to the right into the orange one. Jump down to the left to grab the first of the two keys and then jump into the yellow vortex, this will drop you back by the purple and orange vortexes, take the orange one again and this time go straight ahead to the green vortex and jump into that. Pick up the key and jump down to the half a boat below and use the purple vortex to get back to the platform with the locked gate. Jump into the purple portal behind it and then fire the cannon to complete the level. ,-----------------------------------------------------------------------------, |~-[040000]~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-FAQS~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~[040000]-~| '-----------------------------------------------------------------------------' Q: What is that rune that appears in the top right corner of the screen? A: The rune indicates that you have reached a sort of checkpoint in the level, the next time you fall off the edge you'll be taken back to where you were when it showed up last. Checkpoints are very frequent so it's not something that you really need to pay any attention to but it may be helpful to know that you've gotten past a particularly tricky part and are now safe from having to repeat it. Q: What is behind the closed gate in Boom Town? A: That is just the gate that you go through at the end of the first level to reach Boom Town. Q: What is Boom Town Population? A: It refers to the number of people you have met through the story, many of them return with you to Boom Town and take up residence in new sections of the town. This number is really just a measure of story progress and you don't need to pay attention to it. The residents are: 1. Flynn 2. Hugo 3. Mayor 4. Robot dude in the museum 5. Hat shop guy 6. Mabu talking about chompies next to the gate 7. Mabu from Sky Docks 8. Mabu talking about demo Skylanders 9. Builder #1 10. Builder #2 11. Builder #3 12. Persephone 13. Mabu who got his ship blown up 14. Mabu who loves the museum 15. Prospector 16. Rock bloke from previous game 17. Surfer guy 18. Green dragon mabu 19. Ghost dude 20. Cali Q: What are Zones Completed? A: Another story progress stat, it refers to each of the different zones that you can select to view their collection of levels. This number goes up once you've completed all of the levels in a zone. The default number of zones is seven but the total number increases to 9 when you load in the new Adventure Packs. Q: Where is Elf Hat in Fountain Springs? A: That is an error in the Museum's hat listing, it is not actually in Fountain Springs. You can find it in Toadstool Terrace instead. Q: Where's the Dancer Hat in Bonsai Bay? A: You have to go into the Earth Gate twice, once before you fire the cannon to raise the water level outside and once after. Q: How do I reset a Skylander? A: There is no way to reset a Skylander in the 3DS version, you must use a console version of the game in order to reset. You can lower the level of a Skylander in the 3DS version by resetting the toy in the console version and then loading it back into the 3DS game with the Portal of Power. Q: Why are there only 136 hats in the 3DS version compared with 147 in the console versions? A: I have no idea why they decided not to include these hats but the missing ones are: * Bronze Top Hat * Silver Top Hat * Gold Top Hat * Whirlwind Diadem * Obsidian Helm * Lilypad Hat * Crown of Flames * Runic Headband * Clockwork Hat * Cactus Hat * Skullhelm They do all work in the game, if your Skylander puts them on in the console version and you load it into the 3DS version it will be wearing it. I have noticed an increased health bar for some of the hats so they must also have stats, what those stats are is unknown. A few hats also have a different name in this version. The "Vintage Baseball Cap" is just called "Baseball Cap", the "Officer Hat" is called "Officer Cap", "Paper Fast Food Hat" is just "Fast Food Hat", and the biggest change is "Feathered Headdress" which has become "Peacock Hat". ,-----------------------------------------------------------------------------, |~-[050000]~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~UPDATES~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~[050000]-~| '-----------------------------------------------------------------------------' v1.0 - 17/03/14 Completed the walkthrough. ,-----------------------------------------------------------------------------, |~-[060000]~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~CONTACT~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~[060000]-~| '-----------------------------------------------------------------------------' Please contact me at the following email address regarding the game.
